He's mainstream here then.To be fair Daniel Hannan is probably about as mainstream a figure in UK politics as Pat Robertson is the face of US social policy.

1) Put it this way people in France, Germany, the US, and even the UK, actually pay taxes, albeit grudgingly in some cases. The same cannot be said of the good citizens of Greece.
2) Suck my balls.

1) Um... there ARE NO 'good citizens' in Greece.
2) Um... HELL NO...
Had you been playing the French, you would have received my two cheers and a vigorous fist pump.... otherwise I have to go with the underdog.
Isn't it the birthplace of Democracy?Has anybody on here, or anywhere else for that matter, ever used the modern Greek state as an example to follow in anything?
Not what Brits think of government health care. What one guy thinks about government health care. In any case if it's true the Brits don't like their health care where are the politicians running on changing it?
It's not being used as an example of what to follow here. It's being used as an example of what happens under a nationalized health care system, when the nation's economy tanks. People get their feet chopped off instead of new shoes, because amputation is cheaper. Of course, the Greeks, according to Apple, can always go back to the system that no longer exists, if they aren't happy with this... so they must not mind losing their feet... Greece is a small country, not many places to go, so having feet is probably not a big priority for them.
I think it's safe to say, the Greeks are having a little worse time than most. The point of this story is to illustrate what happens when your health care is nationalized, and your nation is in financial distress.
Not what Brits think of government health care. What one guy thinks about government health care. In any case if it's true the Brits don't like their health care where are the politicians running on changing it? Surely they would be prominent, wouldn't they? And all this talk about neglecting the elderly, considering the boomers are aging, a politician like him should have no problem becoming a leader.
Where are the politicians campaigning on dismantling government health care? There should be lots of them. Where are they? All we have is ONE dude from the European Parliament. ONE! And the European Parliament is composed of 736 members.
(Excerpt) The Members of the European Parliament sit in political groups – they are not organised by nationality, but by political affiliation. There are currently 7 political groups in the European Parliament.
Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats)
Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament
Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe
Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance
European Conservatives and Reformists Group
Confederal Group of the European United Left - Nordic Green Left
Europe of Freedom and Democracy Group (End)

When you have nothing to do why don't you check out those political groups and see how many have dismantling universal medical care as an agenda. I highly doubt you'll find one but, like I said, when you're bored and have nothing else to do.
Let us know.![]()
The point is what would happen to someone who lived in a country without a universal plan and didn't have medical insurance like the 43 million here?
Isn't it the birthplace of Democracy?
That really depends on how you measure things. In the Billions of years since there's been a universe a couple thousand really don't make much difference.I think that might be the ancient Greek state rather than modern era Greece, Damo.![]()

Noting how far it can go with socialized medicine, when to save money on special shoes they start cutting off feet, it is wise to give direct examples. Things like this are likely the reason many don't want to head in that direction.
It is interesting to note that "somebody" big in politics thought to say the doctors were doing this to "make money" on the amputations, rather than clearly noting that it became policy to save money on shoes....
Got an experiment for your incompetent ass, to hopefully demonstrate a point.... Go get a sledgehammer, and beat the living dog shit out of your computer, destroy it completely, just like a country adopting nationalized health care would destroy the privatized system. Then come back and tell me how you reverted it back to its present state! I am truly interested to know how you went about doing that, after completely destroying what you had, because you seem to think it wouldn't be a problem to do, if you wanted to.
What your stupid ass continues to NOT GET, is that once the privatized system is destroyed and dismantled, there is nothing to return to... it's gone forever! There is no other choice, but to remain dependent on the system you've established for yourself, unless of course, you can tell us what your secret is... now go grab that sledge hammer, please!!
You said "one". Did you lie before?
Well, if they lived here, one or more, of the 1.5 million non-profit organizations would assist them in getting what they needed. If it was an emergency, the assistance would be available at any hospital or medical center in the country. We certainly wouldn't chop off their feet because it was too expensive to buy them shoes.... but that's what they are doing in Greece, because of the nationalized health care they love so much and wouldn't dream of departing with!
I really think it's because Greeks don't care that much about their feet, they don't have anywhere to go... no money to spend... so what good are feet anyway? Just save the money and chop them off! Isn't that how you see it, Apple?
