There has been a 99% drop in support for Ukraine. If you include European payments to the USA, it is more than a 100% drop in net support.
In other words, trump was not supporting, but rather pulling assets away from their efforts.
Just about everyone here has experienced living in a NATO country. There is one person from Australia, and a few bots from Russia, but other than that everyone else has experience living in a NATO country.
The Germans, and the rest of the Europeans in general, are getting older on average. They were always highly rules based. This is not a population that enjoys having drunk American servicemen party in their cities. They are prosperous enough that they do not need the tiny amounts of money servicemen spend in Germany. The land the bases take up could be much better used on producing things for the Germany economy. The Germans have a lot of uses for land, but much too little land to use.
The Germans always comforted themselves that by loaning this land to the USA, and putting up with the drunk American servicemen, they were buying protection for their country. No one thinks trump will honor any commitments to protect Germany, so now they are moving on.
trump already has. he has pulled almost all support for the war, and if you include the support that Europe is paying the USA for, he has pulled more than all support for the war.
This is like the threat that if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz, trump will bomb them. The problem here is if they open the Strait of Hormuz, trump will still bomb them.

The US is a NATO nation. Even our resident Thai genocide supporter uses his UK (NATO nation) passport from where he grew up. Just about everyone here has lived in a NATO nation.
I can claim citizenship in three NATO nations, but have only actually claimed citizenship in one. I have lived in two, and frequently visited many more. I have a whole bunch of relatives, and friends who live throughout NATO.
