Germany’s defense minister rebuffs Trump’s Strait of Hormuz request: ‘This is not our war’

That's as idiotic as saying the US needs a huge army because every time it had a very small one it'd start wars with its neighbors, go stomp on some Indians, or otherwise act like an imperialist nation...
You're making no sense. Only Germany has started 2 world wars. You should know better, but you are a trump-fluffer - so that explains your ignorance.

NATO also expects participation and that nations provide for their own defense. Yet, that's not the case with the Euros in it today for the most part.
You've got your panties in a bunch.

trump has spent a decade shitting all over our allies and propping up Putin and Xi. Now you expect them all to be excited about getting into this bullshit war of choice started.

You're so childish and low-minded.

France, Germany, UK, Italy, Spain all have standing armies that were capable enough to help us in Afghanistan. Whether you and your hero Trump think they are spending enough on defense is a topic for discussion between NATO members. Only a kindergartener picks up his ball and runs home crying.

NATO is a defensive alliance, and there is absolutely no treaty obligation - none, nada, zilch - to join a war of choice you and Trump wanted.

What does any of your rant have to do with NATO members not providing for their own defense and relying instead on the US to provide it for them?

Germany sent, on average, about 1,300 troops to Afghanistan where they were used in entirely defensive roles. They weren't allowed by the German government to take part in any offensive operations. Australia had about 1,500 there at any time. Hell, Canada, that doesn't have much of an army sent about 2,100 troops.

Even France sent a bigger contingent with 3,200 ground troops and a squadron of fighter-bomber aircraft. Spain sent a brigade of about 2,500 troops.

Sounds about right. He doesn't understand how government, diplomacy, politics work. He barely groks business, for that matter.

NATO wasn't designed to be our personal auxiliary army. It's a defense coalition, not Trump's personal toy soldiers and plastic planes and tanks.
The reason NATO was formed was to preserve the world order. After bashing our allies for years he wonders why would leaders aren't excited about being in a world war for hom.

Says a nation that's buying its oil and gas from Russia...
Which your daddy just reduced sanctions upon. Trump is your daddy and Putin is Trump's daddy.

Trump has been wanting to end the war in Ukraine for years by forcing Ukraine to surrender to all of his Daddy's demands. This is one step in that direction.

Any guesses how "temporary" this will be?

The United States has temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil, a boost to the Kremlin as Washington tries to contain energy prices sent soaring by the American-Israeli assault on Iran.

President Vladimir Putin’s team welcomed the move to ease penalties that were imposed over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and pushed Friday for the U.S. to go further. The decision caused dismay in Europe, where officials feared it would give a timely boost to the Moscow war machine on their doorstep as attention shifts to the Middle East.

Denmark, a tiny nation of 6 million people, sent 18,000 troops to Afghanistan, losing 40 soldiers. That is more per capita than any other nation, including the USA.

What did they get for that? trump threatening to invade some of their territory, and inviting Putin to invade the rest.

trump betrays our allies, and everyone knows that. What is the point of buying someone off when you know they will go back on their word?

Trump :
'we don't need NATO. We don't need allies. You are all leaches '

Also Trump:

'Ummm guys you know how you came to aid of the US after 911 and when we lied you into the Iraq war and how you spent your blood and treasure at our request.... ummm could you do that again now even though we had no intention of consulting you on this even if it harmed you. ' Oh and because I have to I'll add a threat to NATO, to my otherwise begging request. '

Not really. They used us. It was a seriously dysfunctional relationship.
It was like being in a relationship with someone that had a borderline personality disorder.
No matter what we did for them it wasn’t enough. Yet we kept trying to make it work. Succumbing to their every need only to get criticized.
No that is just the lie magats tell themselves.

America more than any other nation benefitted from the alliance post WW2 and that is demonstrable fact.

But magats tell themselves they are always victims. It is a victim culture.

Maybe Trump should pull US troops out of Germany completely. He could tell the Germans, "Defending your country is not the responsibility of the US. You can defend yourselves..."
It's that magats do not understand economics that is the issue.

The US benefitted massively by having those bases abroad despite the upfront cost as the country made far more by becoming the world's reserve currency, something that would have never happened otherwise.

Even now we are and will continue to see the EU and China move away from that and the future cost on America will be immense.

Is that so?
