So what would 'getting married' entail?

A Contractual Agreement. Something that meets whatever the State deems necessary so the group can get the Government Goodies. Right now in my State, it consists of "A Ceremony".

You know like, making a Will, you need to get it Notarized. So, come up with your own Contract or buy a Standard Form "Partners with a Special Relationship" ... that's Government approved.

Doesn't the Justice of the Peace work for the Government that you want out of marriage?

No. The Bureaucrats that hand out 'Licenses'. They are NOT needed.
Did you feel it necessary to become 'Licensed' to marry your wife? Or do you think you two could have figured it out on your own?

Just as a side note ... Me and my wife bought property, filed taxes, had 5 kids, and never bought a 'License'. After 25 years (when I thought I was going to die) I asked my wife to marry me so we could qualify for ALL the Government Goodies.

Let me ask: Did you feel 'married' in the eyes of God ... because the State gave you a Permit? Gave you a Permit to Marry? Or, do you think you were 'married' in the eyes of God whether you had a Permit or not?

Exactly.. The issues that have to be addressed in divorce are division of property, custody and support of minor children and conduct of the parties. Beyond that the State doesn't care.

The State just doesn't want to raise our children.

I felt married when the Priest married us.
