Call it anything YOU want. Plenty of hetero people get married with no intention of your concept of a “family unit”. What are you going to call those “roommates”?

Pray wasn't banned,organized pray in a public school was banned.
As it should be this isn't a Christian nation,it's a freedom of religion Nation.
Any student can silently pray all day long in their head.

In some states, you don't have to have a license or permit to be considered legally married. It's called common law. All you have to do is present yourself as a married couple and do things the way a couple married with a license through the state would do (joint bank accounts, joint tax filing, insurance beneficiary, etc.). However, if you decide to split up and have presented yourself as a marriage couple, don't be shocked if what was yours suddenly becomes hers through something that those married with a license go through.

Perhaps it needs to be. Restoring law and order, morality, chastity. Instilling the values of duty, honor, sacrifice. What is so wrong with that?
 
A marriage is a contract. You can write that contract yourself (in which case it's called a "premarital agreement"), or you can accept the default contract written by your state legislators.

It devalues the sacred covenant of marriage and basically spits in God's face. but then again you would support persecution of Christians.
