Gay marriage ruins it for the rest of us

I don’t believe it should be illegal, I believe if people want to practice it, they should be allowed. I would never practice it, but I don’t feel we have a right to restrict others.

You would be the exception, at least in what you claim, from the typical same sex supporter. I have found that those claiming marriage is about equality for those that love each other when it comes to homosexuals are quick to deny that same equality to marriages they don't like.

If you really want to know...

Marriage is intended as a union of man and woman before God, and nothing else. No sooner could a man marry another man than he could marry his house, and a woman could no sooner marry another woman that she could marry her dog, because she loves it so much. It is the union of two opposite but complimentary elemements to make one whole. In this way gay marriage trivializes the union, "ruining" it for heterosexual couples. And yes, frivolous marriage by other heterosexual couples trivializes it, too.

Not only this, but homosexuality is a sin that disgusts God. Marriage does not reconcile it. The gay community perverts love, making it about sex, saying "I can love anyone I want to!" True, Jesus calls us to love everyone, but not to have sex with anyone. Sex is intended for the marriage of two souls and for making children.

Of course, this is from a theological standpoint. I don't think the church should ever allow gay marriage. However, I don't think the government should have any hand in marriage at all, especially in a country that states freedom of religion as a fundamental right.

Odd how the “sanctimony of holy matrimony” people never were concerned about government getting involved in marriage until the gay thing came around.

Let your church decide for itself. Then we’re all fine with that.

Who told you that your god is disgusted by homosexuality? Do you discuss these issues with your god? Why doesn’t your god do something about it? Must not be much of a god.

Can a house or a dog sign a marriage contract?

Traditional Marriage is about being with the person (persons) you want to have children with and bring up together as a Family Unit.

The 'gay marriage' thing kind of distorts that. Without the biological children aspect, I'm not sure what the meaning of 'Marriage' is anymore.

Maybe it's like "Roommates that want to have a better tax deal"?

Ah, the good ol’ appeal to tradition.

It's sad that I keep church and state completely separate!
I also think the government can not Constitutionally stop people who legitimately use marijuana as a sacrament.Genesis 3:22

The original idea of the 1st Amendment is to keep government out of the Church, not the other way around. America lost its moral compass in 1962 when prayer was banned, look at where it got us now?

Because the Constitution gives them the ability to do so if they choose to do so.

Do you know the difference between the term delegated powers used in Article I, Section 8 and reserved powers used in the 10th amendment?

Are you saying the state should stay out of all contractual affairs in any way?

My view is that getting a 'License' from the 'State' is a hold over from when the Feudal Lord in Old Europe would demand that a couple get his permission to marry, with the Lord asserting some kind of Right to be first to de-flower the young maiden.

In my view, the Feudal Lord, nor the present 'State', has any business in people getting married. I feel no need to get a 'License' or 'Permit' to marry whom I please.

If the 'State' wants people to 'Register' their status AFTER the Agreement, I have no problem with that.

No, not that you keep things separate but that you reject humans because they are different from you and you choose a church that rejects them as well. Just as you choose to shun gays because of your religious beliefs, I choose to feel sad for you that you do this.

Do you go to a church that supports divorce?

I don't go to a church, even though ,I'm divorced,I believe What Jesus said "what God made as one,let no man separate.
I made the mistake of having sex before marriage, getting her pregnant and marrying for that reason.
I wish I would have saved myself till God sent the true woman, who was supposed to be my wife.

It's funny that you quote the Bible against me, when you've missed a pretty critical part. Jesus says to the Pharisees of the adulterer "Let him who has done no sin cast the first stone." Most people think this is excusing adultery and every other sin, but miss another critical part of the passage: he ends by telling the adulterer "go and sin no more." It's about forgiveness, but with a call to repent.

Read John 8:3-11 for the full story.

“The Bible is the word of God"
"How can you be sure it's the word of God?"
"Because the Bible tells us so"
"Why believe the Bible?
"The Bible is infallible"
"How do you know it's infallible?"...

And yet dumbshit76 ignores the historical and archaeological evidence that points to the truth of Scripture.

During the Zombie Apocolypse? :)

No, I can see a more 'liberated' Future. It really comes down to the new definition of 'Marriage'. If it's NOT about biological children and their raising, WHAT is it about?
'Marriage Equality' is more about the 'Government Goodies' and legal standings, than about children and their raising.
