On their own INITIATIVE, an elite tactical Border Patrol unit ,entered the school and took decisive, lethal action , after becoming frustrated with the inaction of NINETEEN POLICE OFFICERS ON THE SCENE.

"INITIATIVE" being the ket word...+ obvious bravery.


Wouldn't want to be a Uvalde police officer involved in this debacle; they will probably have to move, to escape the derision of angry parents, who feel betrayed by their apparent cowardice.

Nineteen children and two adults were murdered by an 18-year-old man at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Evidence has emerged throughout the week the city’s police department was derelict in its duty to end the massacre.

The Uvalde Police Department had 19 officers outside of a classroom door where the shooter was, yet they neglected to enter for about an hour.

They were waiting on a CPB BORTAC SWAT team, which had investigated a drug stash house near the border, Texas Monthly reported. After speaking with a border patrol official, the outlet noted,

The agents immediately responded, arriving at the school just before noon. Bortac (Border Patrol Tactical Unit) is CBP’s’s paramilitary force, an elite group of agents trained to exchange gunfire with cartels. Border Patrol agents not in the SWAT unit also rushed to the school, for more personal reasons: their own children were in the building.

According to the CBP official, three Bortac agents engaged the shooter in gunfire — with one holding a shield — after entering Robb Elementary along with local and state law-enforcement officers. One Bortac agent was wounded, but not critically. The CBP official told Texas Monthly that it’s “unclear which bullet from which gun” struck the shooter and killed him.

A locked school door means little against a high powered rifle, and then you assume the school officer wouldn't have stood around and done nothing like all the other good guys with guns?

You missed the part about a good guy with a gun, AFTER 21 people were killed- not before. With all the ammunition this kid had, dozens more could have died before the right good guy showed up.

THERE WAS NO GOOD GUY WITH A GUN THERE, AS THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN. WOULD HAVE STOPPED THE WHOLE THING.

its easy to blame the cops and they did not follow protocol but their perp was in body armor and they were not. A tactical unit would be.

I know we expect the cops to be brave and risk their lives and all but I know some cops. they are not well paid. neither are they stupid or foolhardy.

they deserve some stern consequences for their missteps but I have to cut them a little slack. fighting crime has become an increasingly smaller part of their job over time. at least give them body armor to keep in the cruiser for these sorts of events.

Since the cops were outside, how did they know the perp had body armor? Plus, you keep telling us that the resource officer, would have ended it had he been on his post. Was he decked out in body armor?

Everyone remember when Republicans were calling on federal law enforcement to be banned and opposed, and that local police were the only legitimate police?

Actually, the shooter did not have the body armor inserts. He was using the gear to hold clips, not as body armor. They may have thought he was in body armor, but he was not.

The reality of the situation was that the police could have gone in half cocked, with no plan, and adding forces as they show up. This would have caused many police officers to die, but would have saved many children. It appears the police chose the safer route for themselves.

I do not think this is about the money. The military asks people to run into near certain death, for some of the worst pay around. Meanwhile, I have never heard of a 7 figure income job in America that is particularly risky. Or put another way, do you think the police would run into certain death for $120k, but not for $60k?

Almost all police departments have bullet proof vests at least, and can get almost any body armor they want. I doubt they wanted body armor, because they were thinking more of the hot Texas weather than the remote possibility of this happening.

You are just misinformed.

The officers that killed the shooter were still a stacked unit of both Border patrol and Local Police Officers. Now it will take a ballistics test to determine who actually fired the fatal blow. And that won't be easy- as the shooter was shot 15 times.

BUT WHAT HAS YOUR LITTLE STICKER ALL PECKED OUT TO PUT EMPHASIS ON THE BORDER PATROL?

EXACTLY WHAT NARRATIVE ARE YOU TRYING TO PLAY INTO AND INFLATE WITH SUCH INACCURATE INFORMATION?

This is what got the Governor in trouble - LYING to play up the importance of the Border Patrol!

AND WHY? That is the question everyone wants to know!

Even if it turns it that it was a Border Patrol officer that killed the shooter, why is it so important to you or the governor that it was a Border Patrol Agent?

So much, that you feel you have to lie about it?
