So were tattoos and criminal records at the time. Didn't the Iraq War end under Obama in 2011? More years have passed since the war ended than the war lasted.

Regardless, the US military has reinstituted its high standards. The fact the Mall Shooter, Garcia, was tossed out is one indication. Speed, who was in the Naval Reserve long before 1/6, is only one of 110,000 Naval Reserve sailors augmenting the 345,000+ active duty sailors. Also note that his behavior didn't begin changing until late in his career. IMO, he is showing signs of mental illness.

If our own nation doesn't give a shit about helping the mentally ill, why would Congress pay the military to do so? The military's only recourse is to toss them out when identified and let society worry about it.

If I was to word-smith Nordbergs post, I would have said some (not lots) of service people are attracted to white nationalism. Lots to me sounds like a higher fraction of the population than some. But it's semantics
