Regardless, the US military has reinstituted its high standards. The fact the Mall Shooter, Garcia, was tossed out is one indication. Speed, who was in the Naval Reserve long before 1/6, is only one of 110,000 Naval Reserve sailors augmenting the 345,000+ active duty sailors. Also note that his behavior didn't begin changing until late in his career. IMO, he is showing signs of mental illness.
If our own nation doesn't give a shit about helping the mentally ill, why would Congress pay the military to do so? The military's only recourse is to toss them out when identified and let society worry about it.
