Florida teachers have to hide books!

Has anyone been arrested yet? This is just a great opportunity to declutter the room and get rid of books that haven't been touched for a long time...

Pornographic?

"The policy comes in response to HB 1467, which requires all reading material in schools to be selected by an employee with a valid education media specialist certificate. In a message sent from the Manatee district to principals, the material must be “free of pornography” and “appropriate for the age level and group.” New training approved by the State Board of Education also asks media specialists to avoid materials with “unsolicited theories that may lead to student indoctrination.”

Why would the schools shut down libraries if they contained no pornographic material.

How many times were you "rolled" when what you do was illegal, ambulance chaser?

Restricting age inappropriate books with sexually explicit material (and sexual perversion) has been the norm for more than a century.

Sexual deviants like the ambulance chaser want to change that so that a six year old in the first grade can view this sewage,

Oh Hell no.

I have no objection for “older teens”, they should be trusted with a huge variety of information to evaluate for themselves.

Would you buy a classroom set and donate it? For a classroom lesson?

No, not likely!

Right because certain books should not be a part of the curriculum... or in a classroom for a teacher to hand out to a student so that they can get extra credit by reading it and writing a report and sharing it with the class...;)

I don't see any "have to" in there. Methinks the OP is (like usual) using hyperbole to fit his own agenda. While some may choose to say they are "hiding" books to avoid prosecution, most simply remove them from the classroom to avoid prosecution. Also some hyperbolize and close down the entire library hurting children's education to make a political point, but it is not something they "have to" do, they are doing it because their political agenda is more important to them than the children's education.

Here in Michigan one small town library was defunded by voters when the RW staged a campaign against the library for not removing books dealing with LGBTQ issues. Thanks to generous donors, the library got a short lease on life for now. And they have not removed any books, either. One GOP RWer wants to shut it down "by force."

Michigan GOP official: Shut down ‘by force’ public library with LGBTQ books

I see you're still whining about Jarod's kid's teacher and her list of "book the government doesn't want you to read." As we already discussed, those are not grade-school level books; most of them we had as assigned reading in high school. Well, *we* did -- you had coloring books at yours.

The OP is about mini-classroom libraries in grade schools. How many teachers do you really believe are going to put "Gender Queer" or similar books in a grade school classroom? Silly twatmuffin.

No one is going to tell me, my children, or grandchildren what they cant read!

It is customary to put an apostrophe in the word can't. Perhaps it is better if you do not tell your children, or grandchildren anything. Enjoy your Governor.

I would not be surprised at what kind of books this teacher would put in a library. She teaches preschool and a preschooler has ZERO business being taught gender identity by a non parent.

The majority
of teachers with classroom libraries...at any level... are not concerned about this book evaluation process... and neither are parents.... any of them can order any book they like for their children... I often gave books or magazine subscriptions as gifts to students... that was never a problem because none of them were ever questionable...
