The authorities. OK- so you believe that taking life is ' reasonable '. I think that anybody who kills in cold-blood is sick in the head. So is anybody that applauds it.
The death penalty exists because the authorities want to kill. Square one. You didn't even scratch that position- even though you think you did.

Then why don't you volunteer to guard inmates who are more than willing to commit serious crimes while incarcerated for a while? It's easy to take your position when it's somebody else that has to pay the price for it.

Different issue. What you are describing is criminal lawyers / prosecutors using misusing their authority for personal gain. In my view, the best solution to that is trial and conviction of them for this followed by giving them the sentence they gave their victims. I am just saying that before we execute someone- we should be making sure they are guilty!

So these people that think the accused should be taken out of the courtroom and instantly shot to death just after conviction, may want to allow the time for a defense to go through the appeal process.

Thousands of convictions are overturned every year during the appeal process.

They do go through the appeals process. That's automatic today in death penalty cases.
