Just the other day you were supporting red flag laws, now... magically you find that it is a bad thing. And because I brought up the law you pretend that it has my support in some way.
Are you sure you're not mistaking me for someone else?
I have been consistent that I think all gun owners should face mandatory, annual (or semi-annual) mental health screenings...I don't believe I've even spoken to "red flag laws". Isn't that what ERPO is? And what did I say about ERPO? That I thought it was unfair to put the burden on the family of adult relatives, who are not responsible for their adult relatives.
ERPO would still require someone to take action to preempt something...whereas with mandatory mental health examinations, the action is inherent and directed by the state; and the doctor doing the evaluation is the one who is ultimately held accountable for the actions of the person they evaluated and cleared.
Don't you want some accountability here when someone who is mentally ill acts violently with a gun?
