WASHINGTON -- Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Friday that the shootings that took place in an Aurora, Colo. movie theater hours earlier were a result of "ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs" and questioned why nobody else in the theater had a gun to take down the shooter.

During a radio interview on The Heritage Foundation's "Istook Live!" show, Gohmert was asked why he believes such senseless acts of violence take place. Gohmert responded by talking about the weakening of Christian values in the country.

"You know what really gets me, as a Christian, is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of a derelict takes place," Gohmert said.

2) BAC... my apologies... it is now said the rifle was indeed an assault rifle with a 30 round clip... so I will take my own advice and remain silent on it until we know all the details for sure. Again, sorry... been a long day... not an excuse... just is what it is.

"People inside tell us they thought it was part of the movie. They heard what they thought were firecrackers, loud bangs and all of a sudden they saw the bullets flying. "Police officers are carting the injured to the hospital in their own cars, not waiting for the ambulances."

The crime scene is still being treated as active and the mall has been closed off. A makeshift hospital has been set up to tend to the wounded with sniffer dogs reportedly in action to search for any potential explosive devices.

This is so tragic and it being a midnight showing means the theater was probably full of a majority of young adults. My heart goes out to the state of Colorado and the victims and their families.

I realize that you're wrong. an automatic weapon is difficult to control on full auto because of the recoil and without proper training and firing technique, is almost guaranteed to miss high and to the right after the first 3 shots.
 
They evacuated the cowards apartment complex as he told the cops he rigged his apartment to explode... he wasn't kidding. Cops are still trying to defuse the booby traps. Early reports are there was enough in there to take down the complex.

Three month olds sleep a great deal. A lot of young parents do it. I have done it, not a midnight showing, but a matinee.
No one would think anything of it, until something like this happens and then people pass judgement on the parents.

It would depend on what the purpose of it was... Terrorist attacks have a point, an insane person often does not. Was he trying to make a point? To "teach" society something, or was he just insane? There is a difference. Terrorists also often have people who work with them, who have the same "point" to make. That is far more terrifying as you know that this incident is the first in a long string of incidents, rather than simply one dude working alone because he was insane.

This...Rana's statement is true if the automatic weapon is in the hands of a trained/practiced nut case. But in the hands of a novice, most of the shots would eventually wind up in or towards the ceiling with the gun being unloaded rather quickly.

Nobody that I know of who respects others would take a 3 month old kid to a premier at midnight when 7 zillion people could be inconvenienced by a screaming child, they would take the child to a Matinee.
