Fatal shooting at Denver screening of The Dark Knight Rises

This is crazy. I don't mean to be crass but I believe they said a three month old got shot. Who brings a three month old to a midnight showing of Batman? I guess if you are a big fan and can't find a sitter you do but damn.

This just sucks all around. Sad story.

I was kind of shocked. A Movie Theater. I can't say it never crossed my mind that it could happen, but the reality feels shocking. Especially, there were kids. It makes me feel like I can't even bring my niece and nephew to a movie. It's something that actually scares me and not that much does anymore because I am not really afraid of dying. What kind of a diseased mind does this? What do people get out of this?
You're asking questions that have no answers.

They called the police.

How did that work out for them? The police basically just wrote up what happened

The assailant obviously had automatic weapons.

If your point is that everybody should have been armed, I vehemently disagree, and, in my opinion, that perspective is why thousands and thousands of people die by guns every year in this country.

I would argue that if more people were armed, there would have been a better chance at stopping this nut job in his tracks. Under your scenario the victims are left to waiting for the police who could take upwards of 10-15 minutes to arrive. Fewer people would have been injured had more been armed and took the fucker out. Much like this brave elderly man. Imagine the carnage if he hadn't been there?

Now, I have proof my way works. You? You just blindly follow a nazi policy

Current reports are that there are 38 injured and 12 dead. That number has fluctuated a bit during the early hours of the morning out here.

This won't have anything to do with this, but the mall the theater is located in is called by the locals "murder mall" for the gang activity associated with the place. They keep saying that this is a place you would "take your kids" on the radio... I don't know anybody who would regularly take their kids there.

violence is violence. It doesn't matter the weapon of choice. There is no way of preventing violence. there are only ways of defending ones self from being a victim of it.
the weapon of choice does matter, how do you kill 15 ppl with a knife? ( unless you're Bruce Lee -then you don't need weapons).

we're a sick culture, violence pervades TV shows, movies, and guns are American as Apple Pie. Except the Apple Pie isn't semi-automatic.

we don't even flinch at the worldwide destruction we cause. Few ppl know what happened in Libya - fewer even care "we gort Gaddafi" we got bin Laden" is all that matters.

Guns are unique, they have but one purpose -to kill, and it takes little skill when you use an automatic, or semi -automatic weapon.

1) The three month old died.
2) Two of my friends were there with their boys... luckily in a different theater in the complex.
3) The assholes in the media are already re glorifying the asshole cowards from Columbine. The AP reporting that this theater is just a few miles away. It is not. It is about 15. Yes, both suburbs near Denver, But one is on the southwest (Littleton) and the other on the northeast (Aurora... at least the part of Aurora where this theater is).

4) and I cannot be more clear... those of you using this as a 'this is what more guns do'... FUCK OFF... not even a few hours into this and you are already trying to politicize this?

BRAVO !!!

I think it's a little to early to be politicizing this. It was a nut case and a person determined to kill a lot of people can do so with or with out a gun. Tim McViegh killed over 100 people with out a gun. None of the 911 Terrorist had a gun.

So sad that your immediate knew jerk reaction is to make a political point trying to further your nazi agenda. Not even a hint of compassion for the victims.

You are vile.

I doubt that you can tell the level of his/her compassion. There are two sets of victims in this. The people who were killed and injured in Denver and the people of America who still have to combat the absolute stupidity of American gun laws.

I weep for both. For those who were shot and for those who WILL BE shot next time.

maybe sell Jumbo popcorn, and a semiautomatic clip at the concession stand?
Or just have everyone armed? "show us your ID, and your gun to enter?" Go to Disneyworld: "you must be this tall to ride, and be packing?"

Oh! There you. Darla was worried about you.

You can kill far more with a car than with a gun. Some old man accidentally hitting the accelerator rather than the brake driving into a crowd killed some 27 people in less than 30 seconds.

They called the police.
in other words, they called other people that had guns.

The assailant obviously had automatic weapons.
to my knowledge, no automatic weapons were recovered. only semi-auto.

and as much respect as I have for you, I disagree with your opinion. thousands of people die by guns every year because those guns are in the wrong hands, not the right ones.
