Family value USA vs france

I will do the french open combined with a french cooking class and tour of the wine region!
St tropez, Caen and Normandy will have to wait
When I was single I wanted to go to Paris and eat a fabulous meal, drink great wine, spend a day at the Louvre, make love all night to a beautiful Parisean courtesan, beat up a mime and throw up on the Champs Elysees. Now that I'm married I guess I can cross that one of my list. :(

Or come to nawlins in the early winter ( the blast furnace is off for three weeks)

France is a much more well off nation than we are. Everyone is given a much more equal chance at being successful, being born into the luck sperm club is not as much of an advantage. What happens as a result is that those citizens who are likely to be of greatest benefit but are born to a poor family have a greater chance of getting to a place where they can contribute.

Many have pointed out that if Einstein were born and raised in the US instead of Germany, he would not likely have gotten the education that allowed him to make the contributions he was able to make.

Jarod....sometimes I wonder about you. Einstein was a German Jew and had far more obsticles to overcome in rabidly anti-semitic Germany than any working class white person in this country has ever had to deal with.

Washed Sure you'd get he merci bou cou reference
Mom was french and she used to tease her parents with that coon ass version
I have a friend named "Mercy". She lived in Montreal for a while. Not the brightest gal. It took her 6 months to figure out how all the Bus Drivers knew her name.

The Germans did not become so rabidly anti-Semitic until after Einstein was already educated. He received an excellent education despite being born to a middle class family that could not afford private school or college.

Yup, many on this board in as much admitted it. Many of them do not believe the government should be involved in educating children. Strangely the do believe that the government should be leading prayer in those schools that should not exist.

Jarod.....anti-semitism had been rampant in Europe, particularly Germany, for centuries before Einstein was born and being Jewish were serious impediments to his gaining entrance into University and advancing his carreer in Academia. Why do you think he had to move to Switzerland?

Because of growing antsematism.

The first time I went to Paris back in 1974, there was a tramp in the Quartier Pigalle who used to have a fake rat on a string. He would wait until a swanky couple would go by, walk up behind them and let the rat drop down. He attracted quite a crowd of people waiting for him to get his next victim.

Jarod, you are wayyyyy off!
I razz conservatards about France's nearly free education and healthcare.
They have better food, art, wine architecture and that's about it.
Do they have thier downsides , of course
They think too much progress in too american (they would rather sweat bullets in there tiny houses than adopt American air conditioning
Everyone smokes
Houses are half the size and twice as expensive
Jobs are twice as hard to find and they pay half as much!
Are the french rude? It's a national pastime (see my heritage in past postings). Sure it's rude to speak English to a Frenchman, but they aren't even polite to each other. There is no concept of political correctness, they are too busy fighting each other to unite. Only half of kids are born of marriage, they think we are retarded for disqualifying a politician for an affair. To them it's multi-tasking.
That said, can't wait to play tennis in Paris on the Terre battue
