Fact

Well...then the shareholders need to be more patient too...or if they want bigger returns, then they'll have to invest in riskier ventures. It's gotten too top heavy and if you're honest with yourself, you know it.

You are trying to make larger statements about something relatively simple.

All I have said is that taxes are a cost of doing business, and that they are passed on to the customer.

That is true whether the profit margin is 0.01% or 75%. Your responses may or may not apply, because they are based on the assumption that a corporation is hell-bent on screwing everyone for an instant profit.

BTW, no one bothered to answer my question that I posed last night about inner city gun violence. Can I assume that there's a huge sense of apathy on the subject? If so, THAT'S why this subject keeps coming up.

It's not the Sandy Hooks or Auroras that keep driving this debate... they just help because they are high profile instances. It's the 30k deaths EVERY YEAR by way of firearms that no one gives a shit about because the people that it affects are poor and have a different skin tone.

If you missed it, I'll recap. There's two basic ways of doing it, in my mind anyway.

1. Force businesses to invest in our inner cities so that these folk have something to work for and take pride in....this will cost money and it will take time....tax incentives... carrot rather than stick, of course.

2. Declare crime gangs Domestic Terrorists. Temporarily Suspend Posse Comitatus. Send our troops in and collect all illegal weapons. This would require a National Registry....so that a person would have the paperwork to prove that their weapons are legal. This of course, is our worst nightmare come true. However, if it would be done this way, we could do away with the silly notion of "banning any gun....you want a .50 caliber Machine Gun mounted on your Jeep? Go for it. You want an M60 mounted on your four wheeler? Cool....just register it.

Like I said last night... those are two solutions to end the gun control debate. I also asked for other ideas...so far? Nothing.

Just how do you to intend to have the Government "...force businesses to invest in our inner cities..."

Did you not read? Once again...idiots who start reading, see the word "force" then stop.

Besides, I suppose it would be easier to just keep ignoring the problem....those poor folk are just killing each other, right? Let the dead bury the dead and all that?

You know what group may be a good one to hit up? Professional Athletes and gangsta rappers. They have money, they're from those areas a lot of the time and hopefully SOME of them would be interested in seeing their old "hoods" become good places to live and work again....but on the other hand....maybe their just self centered pricks like a lot of wealthy folk are.

Let's not forget the avaiability of that "skilled labor".

Ever hear of OJT? You mean to tell me all those people at Foxconn in China held tech degrees when they started working there? I'd be willing to bet most of them were farmers in rice paddies looking for something better. But our companies don't want to do that here. They want people to go $50k in debt first...that way they're desperate... makes for good employees.

No, what would happen is that the shareholders would see smaller profit margins and replace the people in charge with people who understand that taxes are a cost of doing business, just like the raw materials, salaries, utility bills, insurance ect ect ect.

I see he's also not thinking about how this would also affect retirement plans that are invested in those said same businesses's.
