FAA has Newark Airport a mess!

The Federal Aviation Administration fired fewer than 400 employees out of its workforce of 45,000, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Monday, as questions rise around air traffic safety amid a spate of recent plane accidents.

Duffy posted the number of layoffs in a social media post message on X, formerly known as Twitter, responding to a post by his Democratic predecessor Pete Buttigieg, who has been critical of the Trump administration’s Department of Transportation.

“Less than 400 were let go, and they were all probationary, meaning they had been hired less than a year ago. Zero air traffic controllers and critical safety personnel were let go,” Duffy wrote on Monday.
During a closed-door Cabinet meeting in March, Duffy reportedly accused Elon Musk’s team at the Department of Government Efficiency of trying to fire air traffic controllers at the FAA, according to The New York Times.

If the 400 number is true…. That is a lot of people who could have been helping in Newark today!

Pesky details...

Personnel is a big issue, but a bigger one is the antiquated computer systems controllers have to use. Modernizing their computer systems would automate many functions requiring less personnel....but that would be against NATCA agreements. Factor in Republican budget cuts and it's a national nightmare.

I do not know why I try to educate the receptionist.

He has the least knowledge of current events…or any other events, of any far left poster on this forum and he is barely literate.
Here are are…. We reached angry insult stage!

Every time you get owned, this is your go to!

Took longer than usual this time!

If true, NATCA agreements need to be amended. Or more people hired.
I edited my post adding about modernizing computers. That would eliminate many jobs thus requiring less personnel.

NASA can launch a rocket and put a probe on Mars. That's akin to shooting a fly on the other side of the planet. With modern computers and radar systems, there's no technological reason a plane leaving DFW for EWR can't be given via data link a launch time, a flight altitude, heading and airspeed for a specified arrival time with a midcourse update. The problem is funding and Republicans have been cutting into the meat and bone of the FAA for decades.

Concentrate…it takes time to modernize Nav-Aids, Radar, and ground to air communications.

The time to have done this was long ago when Obama and the vegetable were in office.

President Trump has been in office less than four months.

Those of us who were actually on the ground saw this…the Area Managers, The Tower Chiefs and Division and Regional Directors saw this and warned of the consequences.

They were ignored by Obama/Biden.

I saw it personally.

Think!
Who was president between Obama and Biden?
