The Class War is waged in so many ways it is hard to even state them all. Some are blatant, others are far more subtle and difficult to even recognize. That's by design. What better way to wage a war on the lower classes than to convince them they are not being oppressed? Convincing them instead that rich and greedy power junkies want to help them makes the oppression easy. If somebody doesn't even admit they are being attacked they most certainly won't fight back.

Another president knew that quite well. President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
A good question. The typical Trumpanzee/Reichwinger will always go for the Plutocracy because there's always the hope that if a RWer just works hard enough, he too can be as wealthy as they are... and we wouldn't want to tax all that hard work, would we?
Whereas socialism is evil because it puts everyone on a fairly equal basis where none of us have to worry about affording medical treatment, paying off student loans, how-can-I-afford-to-pay-the-firefighters-to-save-my-burning-house, public education, clean water/air/food/medications, libraries, roads, bridges, etc.
See -- if you are lucky enough to have a job that offers affordable health insurance premiums, you can look down on your neighbor whose job doesn't offer squat. *Your* kid gets x-rays, expert medical care, and a really cool neon cast when he falls off his bike and breaks his arm. That neighbor's kid? Two sticks and some vet wrap.

He was almost as crude and boorish as the Toadstool, and nearly as racist too.
An interesting take. I heard for years how against the Civil Rights Act he was. I believe he also predicted that if it passed the (D)s would lose the South forever.

"In 1926, Johnson managed to enroll at SWTSTC (now Texas State University). He worked his way through school, participated in debate and campus politics, and edited the school newspaper, The College Star.[21] The college years refined his skills of persuasion and political organization. For nine months, from 1928 to 1929, Johnson paused his studies to teach Mexican–American children at the segregated Welhausen School in Cotulla, some 90 miles (140 km) south of San Antonio in La Salle County. The job helped him to save money to complete his education and he graduated in 1930. He briefly taught at Pearsall High School before taking a position as teacher of public speaking at Sam Houston High School in Houston.
When he returned to San Marcos in 1965, after signing the Higher Education Act of 1965, Johnson reminisced:
