Algebra was the last great accomplishment by Muslims.
the people have tasted freedom and have rejected religious rule.
Democracy is alive in Egypt
Not sure what this means long-term. An elected president (granted, religious, who did some very autocratic things while in office) gets turned out by the military -again.
I see nothing to cheer for here.
I wish Egypt the best; they are going through some tough times, I hope it somehow works out well for the people.
The elected President has been ousted, but it was by the will of the people. After the election this Joker did many things in an attempt, it appears, that there would not be another free election. The Army offered a power sharing agreement and he turned it down.
IF the army does what it is saying it will do, hold elections within a year, it will be furtherance of Democracy. I did not like the Theocrat and was disappointed the people elected him in the first place. This turn of events might ultimately be better for the People of Egypt.

Obama you jerk, Muslim Botherhoods are killing the Egyptians so how come they can guarantee you the security of Israel.
Hey Obama, your deal with the Muslim Botherhood is unsuccessful.
Obama you idiot. Keep in mind that Egypt is not Muslim botherhoods and if you don't believe that go and see what's happening in Tahir Square.

Not really, the Ottomans adopted, or more correctly, had the same social and political structures of the Byzantines meaning they did descend directly from the Byzantines (aka Eastern Roman Empire), the main significant change was a religious one (the adoption of Islam vs Eastern Orthodox). The Ottomans (Turks) certainly didn't descend from the Parthian empire nor did they have their political or social insitutions. The Turks (whom the Romans originally coined the term "Asians") were a Roman province dating back to the late Republican period predating the imperium. It conquered it. I don't know if that constitutes being a decendent of the Byzantines, or else the entire Islamic world west of Persia is a decendent of the Roman Empire...
