Just one more reason I like Ike!
I suspect that his motives were primarily driven by the not invented here philosophy rather than any higher goal.

Is Dixie the guy on the street corner with the sanwitch board that reads, "the end is near"?
Did anyone see that there were protests in Iran today? They began as pro-Egypt protests and turned in to anti-government protests. Looks like this freedom thing is catchy. So if this suceeded would Dixie applaud it just like he shits on the Egyptian movement.
He said he thought I was saying, I didn't know what was coming, because "we" don't know what is coming. I found the statement odd, because I know a lot of Christians, and almost to a fault, they will all tell you we are in the End Times. I don't personally subscribe to the Christian religious philosophy, I am a Spiritualist, and I have a high regard for the scriptures of the Bible. I think you can "believe" in the Bible and not be a Christian.
Now, I don't know if what the Bible says is going to happen, will actually happen, but if the same text were being reviewed by Nostradamus, they'd be doing 24/7 Special Reports on it. Almost to a letter, the events laid out in the Bible, are happening in the world, and almost precisely as the Bible predicts.... it also predicts people will shun the signs and grow more hostile to 'believers'... so you are fulfilling prophecy in this very thread.
I didn't say that. The true End Times is a pretty big deal, if it were predicted in the Bible, it might take the span your your miserable lifetime to occur, don't you suppose? It may even span a few hundred or thousand years, I am not arguing that. Just that, the specifics of what is currently happening in the Middle East, is pretty much laid out in detail, in a 2000-year-old document. Those who DO believe the Bible, already know what is going to happen in Egypt. To come here and say... "we don't know what's going to happen" ....is a laughable and ridiculous admission of ignorance, to those who believe the Scripture.
....I'm just sayin'!![]()
The Egyptian guy on 60 minutes basically said the west should stay out of it. He said we backed Mubarak and his oppressive policies for 30 years so Egyptians basically don't want our "help". I agree with you. When the west has their hand in shaping middle east governments it gives the hardcore fundamentalists ammunition. They say we are setting up a puppet government that just does what we want. It creates problems for people trying to reform the government. Look at Iraq. Their leader is now trying to cozy up to al-Sadr. Wonder if that was in the Iraq handbook of flowers and democracy?yeah, there were protests in a lot of places in the mid east. Some for major reforms without leadership changes, some for complete overhauls.
My two cents....
Back the protesters in places like Iran where it really can't get worse for us. Stay out of the way in places like Egypt where it could potentially swing moderate or hard core Islamic. The more we stay out of it, the less power we provide the extremists. Just my opinion on the matter... I could be wrong.
If we know what's going to happen it doesn't make any difference, one way or another, what we do so the logical thing would be to do as little as possible.
And yet ANOTHER brilliant 2012 Campaign slogan for Democrats...
Do As Little As Possible!
[VOTE OBAMA]
And we are all still waiting to hear what your plan for U.S. interventionism is in Egypt....
LOL... I'm going to pull a page out of the Pinhead Playbook here... why should I tell you what you should do here? I'm enjoying watching you fall on your face too much!
For the record, I already stated what I thought should be done. The US should have been proactive on this months ago, forming a "Democracy Team" from around the world, through the UN (it's what they are supposed to be for), and helping the Egyptian people establish a fair and impartial electoral system.
Sitting around waiting for the Muslim Brotherhood to usurp power through some sham election, is not my idea of leadership, and not what we should be doing... but it looks like that's the gist of it, when it comes to this administration.

So this whole thing was planned by the muslim brotherhood? They are completely behind it? The guy that works for Google, he is a Muslim Brotherhood stooge? That is the guy that became the face of the revolution. Not some fundamentalist ideologue from Alab...er ah Iran.
Sure, Dix. And if Obama had formed a "democracy team", you'd be railing him for singing "kum ba yah" with our enemies.
You're such a predictable hack. We have no business dictating the course of Egyptian politics. You are the most anti-freedom person I have ever read on this board.
