Farmers can only afford to pay so much before produce prices start going up.
And once the produce harvesting workforce becomes predominantly staffed by American workers, the next thing you know, they'll be demanding full benefits. Paid vacation, paid sick leave, maternity leave, child day care, health, dental and vision insurance, 401k plans..... etc, etc, etc.
Then you can look for $5 apiece tomatoes and $10 apiece avocados. Potatoes at $4 ea, grapes at $10 a pound. Watermelons at $15 ea.

That's a lie. Suppose we paid orange pickers $30.00 an hour. And suppose they pick 300 oranges an hour ( just one orange every 12 seconds). That means the picking labor is just 10 cents an orange.!!! Labor is a very small part of the cost of produce. THINK
