"Don't go to college, go to a trade school"

so, in fact, those people could have paid off their student loans, you just wanted to buy their votes by easing their self assumed debt. got it.

It doesn't matter whether or not they could pay it off, the point is that by removing it, they can spend money in other places that will do things like create jobs and raise wages.

If you think it's so unfair that your coworker got their debt forgiven, then go ask your boss for a raise!

No degree is useless.
If you're doing cost/benefit analysis on life experiences, perhaps not. But if you're talking about a huge debt for a degree that doesn't get you a quality job, then the degree is useless. The problem is the shrinking number of positions for a lot of college majors.

the government is not a corporation, you fucking idiot. you have zero fucking clue about government and economics. your college FAILED you.

You keep saying that I don't know certain things,
but everything I've been saying is completely accurate.

You haven't even tried to offer a counterargument.

All you've done is insist upon yourself in lieu of making an unemotional argument against debt forgiveness.

The one time you did make an argument, it was centered on a perceived feeling of unfairness. To which I would say, the real unfairness is your boss exploiting your labor without paying you enough for it.

So don't get mad at the government for forgiving student loans, get mad at your boss for not giving you a raise.

and if they did that for FHA mortgages, we could do the same..........are you going to petition for that?

I just used the most popular trade jobs that exploiters try to push people towards...those are the jobs that come from trade school, and none of them have average wages that are equal to or greater than the national average.
Your flaw is comparing to the national average across the board.

A law degree leaves you a pauper when compared to a hedge fund manager.

Right, but because of their degree their lifetime earning potential is substantially higher than that of a plumber or electrician, even if they are self-employed.
I understand your position, but there are plenty of variables that make that plumber or electrician much better off than the lawyer.

You have a massive head start out of the gate, and your field puts you in a position to acquire houses at a severe discount because you just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

By the time a lawyer is a partner, the plumber could be a real estate tycoon.

right, white privilege. you must be full of guilt over it. you're also idiotically delusional for thinking I had any of it.

I don't have any guilt.

I just have a lot of sadness because you're playing right into the fascists hands by being mad about a stranger getting their debt forgiven, but not being mad about your boss keeping your wage low.

if you do not know the answer to that question, go back and study economics and finances

I know the answer to that quesiton, but I'm 100% sure you do not which is why you didn't answer it...because you didn't want to reveal that you know nothing about this.

So tell me, what are the benefits to having people pay a sizeable amount of their income to student loans every months?

Undergraduate school is to broaden the vistas of your mind.

Graduate school is to begin the development of career skills.

If you can't support your kids until they're at least twenty-five, you couldn't afford to have kids.

The most major thing about having a college degree vs. not is lifetime earning potential.

Someone with a PHD is going to have a higher lifetime earning potential than someone with a Master's, who will have a higher lifetime earning potential than someone with a Bachelor's, who will have a higher earning potential than someone with just a HS diploma or GED.
And debt to go along with it.

Not everyone is doctorate material.

The US loaned about $135B (in 2022 dollars) to Europe for the Marshall Plan in 1945, so do you think you're paying for that today?
Apples to Oranges but the answer is YES. If it were paid back we would be 135 billion dollars less in debt.

this presumes they get into that field. they often do not.

my wage isn't low. I understand you have to assume that or your argument fails.

you do have guilt over it or you wouldn't be pushing for 'social justice', just another word for reverse racism.

you're the one playing in to fascist hands by supporting a vote buying scheme and using bullshit lies to justify it.

you have to assume i've led a sheltered life, even though I gave you some examples of how my life was anything but sheltered, but I understand that you have to do that............cognitive dissonance and all

why do people pay taxes? now you have your answer.......not that you're capable of understanding it

That they are.

They also will earn substantially less over their lifetimes than those with college degrees.
Maybe. Generalizations on either side of this debate produce nothing.

One side says all college is a waste, and the other says all college guarantees a better life.

Neither are correct. There is a list a mile long of useless college degrees with respect to earning potential.

you want class warfare. you want special population groups. we get it, you're an idiot.

You're the one literally pitting yourself against the working class.

And now you're licking your boss' boot instead of holding their feet to the fire to get the wage you think you're owed.

Are you afraid of your boss or something?

Why are you wasting all your time bitching about other people getting advantages and not getting those advantages from your boss?

Like, you could just say to your boss "Because Janet's student loan was forgiven and I don't have a student loan, it's only fair that I get a raise since I didn't have any debt to forgive". Why are you not doing that right now?

again, a fine display of your ignorance of economics.............you're an embarrassment to yourself, your parents, and your college
