A perfect example is my son and his wife. He is a fireman lieutenant and his wife, of the same age, is an elementary school teacher. He makes about double what she makes . She has already made noise about leaving teaching and he loves being a fireman. He spent two years less becoming a fireman than she did becoming a teacher and she owes 80K for her education. He earns a little over double what she does. He also earns more than his Mechanical Engineer friend, of a same age, that designs HVAC systems.
