Donald Trump might be more popular than you think (Politico)

yep. Obama was a smooth talker/metrosexual type of urbane wit. Give him props for that..
TrumpSpeak needs a decoding- there are times I cringe at his language.

But all I care about is outcomes and while I give Obama credit for the stimulus ( no matter how poorly implemented) there is much to damn him.

Thank gawd Hillary lost! It would have been her SHRIEKING coupled with more Obama policies! *shudder*

I guess we'll see how this plays out, but I have a hunch that Dems will ultimately be thankful that Hillary lost. '18 could have been a complete bath in the Senate if Hillary was President, and it's unlikely that Democrats would gain back much in the House or in the states. The only thing - and it's a pretty bad thing - is that they'll lose the Court for many, many years.

But Trump being Prez will likely limit their gains in one of the most favorable Senate election years I've seen, and likely see Dems make gains in the House & throughout the country. Even people who like Trump don't trust one party that much, especially when they're getting a little crazy like this.

he's 100% likeable to me. He's got charisma and charm, he sticks it to the corrupt media, trolls people, he's hilarious.
Bawahahaha, someone with little or no personality would say this about Trump, thank you, Sheldon.

Yes, ignore the polls. All the polls are biased. It's going to be fun taking you by surprise in 2018 when you're 30 points behind in the polls and ignoring it because you're sure they're all biased.

i have never once said polls were biased all election long. In fact after election when I kept hearing how the media talking about the polls being wrong I made numerous posts about how that wasn't the case. My main argument is people underestimate the underdogs and typically round them down to 0 if they are say.. 30%.

The only time I will be critical of a poll is their methodology. When it comes to elections and imaginging the electoral landscape, you need polls of likely voters. Not of americans, not of registered voters. In an election year, especially in the closing months, the vast majority of polls will be polling likely voters. because it's just the obvious thing to do.

Also have you actually looked at the seats up for election in 2018? Democrats have like 10 "unsafe" seats (all states won by Trump in 2016), republicans have 2 unsafe states (nevada and arizona)

Sadly, Trump is way more popular than most people would have dreamed possible. Asshole jerk sells in many quarters. Especially amongst the low social strata. There was once a professional wrestler who invented the whole boastful braggart thing, sold out all the time, wore a crown and a purple kingly robe, talked down to his subjects. Whether you loved gorgeous george or hated him, you bought tickets to his show.

Trump is very popular and unpopular, and each are of equal value to him.

Trump is a classic horse's arse.

If you actually "like" Trump, it's time for some self-reflection. Hoping he can shake things up and maybe be good for a re-set? Fine. But liking him?

That's an issue. The man is not likeable.

Other douches would immediately sense the presence of another douche and go into douche protection mode.

I doubt that the people who defend his positions are truly "liking" him, they just like what he may be doing.

It's funny how easy Watermark trolls you. Like stealing from old people.

Ending democracy as we know it? Oh well one thing we can count on. Trump won't turn us into a libertarian paradise.

Yeah, he has a pen and a phone, right? We warned you that you wouldn't like having somebody not a D using executive authority like Obama and that too much power was being vested in one branch, but you didn't seem to care. Thankfully the one thing I thought he might give us better than HillBillary has pretty much come to fruition...

Waaaaaa, they do it too!

Do you know him personally?

Have you met and spent time with him?

Or: are you one of those Liberal/Progressive/Marxist/Statist/Fascists from the Left who think they are ace mind readers?

For people who aren't mind readers: it is nearly impossible to make such a judgement via the lense of the upside down media, and the public media persona Trump has created, (IMHO).

I find him quite entertaining and he really does have serious energy fer a 70 year old, (or for anyone of any age as a matter of fact), and I never watched "The Apprentice".

Thangy can't read . Everything's based on soundbites from the lying liberal media and his equally hysterical pals. He's stiff due to the hand up the back of his shirt and into his hollow head to get his mouth to move.

Payback's a bitch, but when you are absolutely SURE that EO's from a Republican president would NEVER happen and then it does, it is filled with all kinds of AWESOME!

until now, Reagan and Bill Clinton were the only two presidents to display postermodern tendencies......Grind is a very postmodern person....it is Trump's postmodernism that draws him......in essence "you have expectations of what I will do or say?......well fuck you......now, back to what we want to see happen!"........

It's funny how easy Watermark trolls you. Like stealing from old people.

no. watermark stole my patented method of trolling called troll truth. You create a cloud of possibilities, where you troll with the truth, and truth a bit with the troll. Then when you get called out for trolling, you say no you are being straight up. and if you get called out for believing stuff, you say no you are just trolling. By the way, this post is also a truth troll. so don't take it too seriously.

So because I know what watermark is doing I have to address it head on.

Our level of trolling is so above your head you don't understand the delicate dance of what watermark and I are doing. You can't appreciate all the subtle moves and gamesmanship.

I think I was the first to coin the phrase 'reverse Obama effect' in describing Trump's polls.

Obama was personally popular but his policies sucked. How else can you explain the massive loss of democrat seats over the last 8 years?

With Trump it's just the opposite: even many people who voted for him wish he'd stay off Twitter, not get into spats with Arnold or make jokes at the National Prayer Breakfast; yet, so many of his proposals are popular.

The theory explains the discrepancy in the polls. It's like when God anointed an asses jaw and David went onto slay the Philistines with it in the OT lol.

Trump is just an instrument. The movement is what the democrats need to be wary of. It won't go away when Trump is gone. Whenever that happens.

Emphasis on " massive loss". The Dums don't know how to address this YUGE loss that will likely follow them them long after Schumer and Warren kick the bucket.

It is certain they won't take personal responsibility so we're just gonna have to be vigilant and remind them of their self-inflicted demise every damn chance we get.

LOSERS!!!

You're funny Damo. I have no problem with Trump using EO's. As long as they meet statutory requirements, as Obamas did, it's his perogitive, and when they don't, the ensuing hilarity when the courts point out his executive and legal ineptitude Is priceless but in the end our governments checks and balances work like they should. So you can cry all you want about Trumps unconstitutional EO being over turned by the courts but I'm reassured that our government works...granted I'm sure that really annoys you anarcho-libertarians.
