Musk eliminated candidates based on citizenship because the law (ITAR) said he had to. The State Department, under Joke Bribem, changed that law to allow foreign nationals to work at companies who's products and research could be weaponized, like Space X-- I wonder, did the Chinese pay Joke via his son Bagman to change that law since this will definitely benefit them if Musk starts hiring Chinese nationals to work there--and now the DOJ is singling him out to force him to hire such people most likely without particular regard to their ability to do the job.
SpaceX hires for any number of positions including “welders, cooks, crane operators, information technology specialists, software engineers, dishwashers, business analysts, rocket engineers, marketing professionals, baristas, and more.”
He violated the Immigration and Nationality Act.

That you know of... It's pretty damn clear that word got to the DOJ about how to treat Joke's son Bagman... And, their use of discrete channels to influence social media are now known. It's very likely that indeed the Bribem administration is calling some of the shots at the DOJ.
Or, there is lots of backroom deals off the record and the Bribem administration is up to their eyeballs involved in manipulating what goes on at the DOJ.
