Does North Korea have WMD?

So, what's the solution if sanctions don't work? You attack NK you attack China, what would you do since you seem to think you know more than all previous administrations?
you have to follow protocol. 1st thing you look at is espionage/assassination -regime disruption.

Then you tell China this isn't negotiable if ( when) NK has actual proven ICBM technology- it's an unacceptable risk
and China should understand a military option is the very last option -but it's a viable option .

Maybe then China steps in at the last minute with real crippling sanctions -or maybe they tell us they won't get into a US/NK war if it doesn't threaten it's borders.
But our actions are still independent- not reliant on Chinese moves

Steady pressure/rational steps/but with the bottom line being NK with ICBM nukes is too much of an existential threat to rely just on ABMs

How does Trump plan to stop them from developing nukes if the sanctions don't work? Do you know his plans? If he attacks them, he will have China to contend with, is he prepared to deal them, they said they would stay neutral if NK attacks us, but not if we strike first.

What Trump has done is coupled the threat of a military strike with unprecedented sanctions on NK.

That is Trump's plan. And I'm not seeing where any of his countless armchair critics have a better one.

I have said many times that China could cripple North Korea in a heartbeat. They shut off their oil for only three days in 2003 and that was enough to get them to the negotiating table. So there's plenty that China can do, to say otherwise is just displaying ignorance of the situation. Trump isn't just playing Kimmy, he is also forcing the Chinese to actually do something meaningful instead of tokenism. The UN sanctions resolution with a 15-0 vote is a very good first step but China needs to tell the North Koreans that they will cut off oil supplies if they don't stop with the threats.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has assured US President Donald Trump that China has limited influence over North Korea, but that's only half true.

It's true that diplomatic relations between the two are weak. Xi has never visited Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang, and Kim has never been to Beijing. High-ranking officials with ties to China in North Korea have been executed at Kim's order, sometimes with packs of dogs, sometimes with anti-aircraft guns.

But Gordon Chang, the author of "The Coming Collapse of China," writes in The Cipher Brief that 90% of North Korea's trade is done with China, accounting for 90% of its oil and, in some years, 100% of its aviation fuel.

After a provocative North Korean missile launch in 2003, China cut off its supply of oil to North Korea for three days. In no time, the Kim regime caved to international demands and sat down for the six-party talks on nuclear disarmament.

"China can disarm North Korea in the blink of an eye," Chang wrote.

And it could do so by crippling North Korea's economy - but at a huge cost to North Koreans.

Sanctions on North Korea do not affect regular trade. Although the UN takes very seriously the prospect of an aggressive, nuclear-armed North Korea, economic warfare in the form of too-harsh sanctions would harm or kill civilians - China also supplies at least a third of North Korea's food, according to Chang.

Additionally, China pressing North Korea to the point of regime collapse would contradict its interests, as Beijing doesn't want to face a strong, democratic, unified Korea on its border that could play host to US military installations.

someone get Rune a joint and calm him down.
What you fail to see is this isn't a rush to war; it's using every possible step in between to avoid it.
Hopefully China steps in, but if not there is always the next contingency

meditate on this: ICBM's capable of hitting the west coast..do you just accept that?

Leverage with China, what do they need to make NK bend, that is where the solution lies, not bluster which forces Kim into taking actions to save face.

China is the key, but what can we offer them to compel them to do what is needed? The threat on NK doesn't appear to be the key. They must feel it is only bluster.

If China thought that the economy would be severely impacted that ought to concentrate their minds wonderfully.

Susan Rice thinks we should.

It's entirely possible Trump has absolutely no military intentions whatsoever and this is pure bluff. He has the advantage of being the unknown factor, since he has practically no foreign policy record and he has a reputation [well cultivated, ironically, by the media] of being a loose cannon.

In contrast to Obama, who practically everyone knows wouldn't place a credible military threat against NK.

So, it's a safe assumption Trump is in Bowl Cut's head at this point. And that's where Trump does his best work lol. Maybe it's just me, but I think this could lead to a breakthrough on the NK issue.

The left fears that almost as much as the nukes.

North Korea has a million man army, and has had close to seventy years to establish a defense against any kind of attack.

For us to attack as such would be an major endeavor and cost thousands of American military lives, North Korea ain't Iraq

We would actually have allies this time. Entire armies of Japan and SK as additional foot soldiers would help. Probably some help from NATO too.

A world war would impact everyone's economy. It is why they worry about the two mad men.

Exactly. Keep calling Trump a madman, it's beneficial.

It's no coincidence China is on board with the sanctions. Trump is playing China as much or more than he is NK because China is a critical piece to the puzzle. China is the only one who can control Bowl Cut.

And Congress will control Trump!
