It is most certainly not a "fuck you" to anyone. They have been using that old coat factory as a muslim community center for how long???

The muslims in that community are not against NY or the USA.




And changing the zoning specifically because you hate muslims is the height of bigotry.

Were there no Muslims that died on 9/11, did they clear all of them out of the building before the planes hit? Did Muslims come to the aide of their fellow New Yorkers and een fearing that some might turn on them in frustration?
 
I think that there is absolutely no legal reason or rationale to block the construction of the mosque. That said, I am disappointed in these Muslims that they would choose to not exercise any tact or restraint in doing something that is obviously offensive and insensitive.

From what I hear, plus based on logic and reason, it is. You can't "rise above" this insidious behavior. You have to get dirty to clean out the dirt.

Its funny with you liberals, you want the government to feed you, provide medical care, welfare, home loans, regulate what you can eat, drink, and smoke.
But when the citizens of New York come out and protest against muslims building a mosque on ground zero of 9/11, and want something done from their elected officials, your all for the government in keeping its nose out.

I am a liberal, I have fed and clothed myself since I left my fathers home. I want the feds to regulate banks, for loans, because if they don't then a little thing called usury comes into play. The reason the feds step in in most cases is because some one is messing up! like banks or credit card companies or mining companies or the list goes on and then it is a representative of the people who then decides what part the feds will play to help rectify things. People for the most part will not police themselves when it comes to greed or power or fame.

I don't believe any liberal wants the feds in that, unless it is the case of the Chinese selling tainted dog food, or putting cyanide paint on childrens toys, then, yes, it is such a bog issue that we the people need the government to make sure that the food and drugs that are being sold to us are not tainted.

I never said that. He asked if we wanted government to get involved with telling churhces where they could build...My answer was to show that goverment already does that through zoning.

The erection of a Mosque has been a symbol of conquest throughout Islam's history. You all can drink the kool aid talking points put out by Muslim's, but you are foolish to do so.

The Coat Factory being used as a community center is not equal to a multi story Mosque that will literally look down on Ground Zero. The community and public at large are against it. The "goodwill" effort has already been rendered impotent, if indeed that was ever their goal.

I feed myself and my family. I provide for our needs quite well. I don't take anything I didn't earn.

And when one portion of the population of this nation tries to usurp the constitutional rights of another portion of the population, I will make some noise.

This entire fiasco is about ignorance and intolerance. It is about anger and bigotry.

Nobody gave a damn where the muslims worshipped, until this made the news. Now the 9/11 site (and blocks and blocks around it) are somehow immune to the laws of the land? Bullshit.

The land is owned by private individuals. The building willl be built by money from private individuals. What possible reason could there be for refusing these people the right to do with their property as they see fit, as long as it breaks no laws.

I thought we wanted LESS gov't interference?

Really we expect the government to defend our interests internationally, not make sure jihadists have protections to do a victory dance over the graves of their victims.
