Does anyone here want the Federal government to grow strong enough to have the power to tell religous institutions where they can and cannot build churches, Synaguge's or Mosques?

Do you Conservatives want the governemnt to only get involved when it fits your political purpose?

I figured you'd be for the Muzzies doing a victory dance on the graves of those killed by them. :pke:

The building in question has been a muslim center for a long time. Only when they wanted to build a better building did it become news.

There is no reason to deny these people their house of worship. But having no reason for something never stopped you from wanting it anyway.

yes - well some of them - some have more sense than others

besides, when the fed violates the 1st amendment, then it is time for a revolution

Imagine if the Vatican tried to build a church in Mecca.

Strawman.

Stick with places within the US.

The location (of the Cordoba Mosque) is in the center of a muslim community in Manhattan. They didn't move into the area after 9/11/01.

(my apologies for the confusion)

Mecca is in America? News to me, better consult my atlas, the pole shift happened and I didn't even know it!

If someone buys a property, does not violate any zoning laws, and presents no hazards to the population, there is no reason why they cannot build whatever they want.

The people of the community around this old burlington coat factory are muslim. The people who own the building are mulsim. They are also US citizens. To try and curtail their freedoms because of their religious beliefs is not the principles this nation was founded on.

In fact, it is unconstitutional and goes against freedoms of this society.

In times of war government must sometimes step on the toes of citizens. It shouldn't be difficult for the City of NY to change the zoning then make the Muzzies financially whole. They can build a bigger mosque somewhere else.

News flash for ya, we are not at war with US citizens who are muslim.

They are building their church where their people live.

This has nothing to do with any war. It has to do with basic freedoms of this nation.

We re at war with the muslim terrorists that destroyed that area of NY, and these terrorists receive funding from muzzies in NY.

Zoning laws already do that.

So we are at war with the muslims in NY?

Why aren't we shooting at them? Or at least putting them in internment camps. I hear the one they used for the japanese in WWII is empty.
