DO you agree with the president on meaningful background checks.

guaranteed uncivil war. guaranteed.

Why is it a lot of gun huggers always see themselves as Chuck Norris, "nobody is taking away my guns," when in reality Barney Fife is more applicable

If stricter gun regulation became a reality you would live it, you would listen to more talk radio, if that is even possible, but you would accept it

depends how wide the law is written,
but it at least gives the courts a way to reach into the individual without wide gun control laws

I've said it many times before, let these kids police their own. They are the ones on social media so they can "flag" these idiots when they post their hate and intentions.

you need to find out how red flag laws work, evidence is collected by cops / health care pros (maybe family?) and presented as an exigent threat -and the guns are removed pending a hearing

As I said, legalities abound, and you are putting all your hopes on that relative identifying and blowing in the "sick fuck," it has a minimal effect if any at all

I just identified the legalities, they are practical

not just relative/online/school peers etc.

I love your can do attitude!

What the hell do you know about gun owners? Barney Fife? You think every gun owner is like him? He never shot anyone, did he? Apparently Andy Taylor thought he was competent enough to be his deputy.
Oh, and a bit of trivia, Barney Fife left Mayberry for a job as a detective with the Raleigh police force.

Perhaps practical, but minimal at best in addressing the problem, sounds good, take the guns away from the mentally disturbed, but accomplishes little

Absolutely, Trump has already rewritten what supposedly were conservative republican principles, if he tells them to shit in the woods they would ask for how long

LIE and LAME. Are you incapable of making a coherent argument without the lies and strawmen?

He will come out saying whatever is done is tremendous and all the lemmings will be believe him even if it directly contradicts a position they strongly professed three months ago

And you whiny morons on the left will not like anything he does and therefore, your opinions are irrelevant and you will just have to figure out how to win elections so that you can fuck it all up like Obama did during his eight year reign of error.

Just saying all the macho attitude some of the gun owners express as the poster above is just that, attitude, and nothing else

And I know a lot of people who own guns, and a good deal about guns in general, qualified on five weapons, sharpshooter on the M16, and I see little use for them in civil society

Of course not. Bang-bang sticks are more precious than human life. Unless said "life" is still in a uterus.

I never said that, that's your fantasy. Go massacre some more pineapples...if you can find a gun club that won't kick your ass out of it...forever.

I wrote this to someone yesterday. What do you think?

I'd like to see the guns treated like a combination of the purchase of cold medicine at the pharmacy, and a driver's license. You have to show ID, get a background check; that info goes into a national database accessible to law enforcement and certified mental health professionals (MDs, PhDs, clinical psychologists, certified family/marriage counselors who must apply and be approved). Then you have to show that you qualify to use the firearm and store it properly; a written and practical test would be required. So would liability insurance in case you're careless and it's stolen and used in a crime. Every couple of years you have to renew your license and a check of that database is done at that time. If there is reason to believe that you are a danger, that info is entered into the database and red-flagged. If proven accurate, law enforcement will be empowered to temporarily remove your firearms until a hearing that shows that you're not dangerous and in compliance. We'd have to come up with a way that the owner wouldn't be unnecessarily burdened with court costs since owning the firearm IS a right.

The only impact this would have would be further limits on law abiding citizens.

Criminals will still get guns. They don't abide by laws. What part of this do leftists have so much trouble comprehending?

I wish the leftist media and Party of the Jackass would be honest about this debate and their goals; complete confiscation of all civilian guns. Is it because they know it will never happen, so the pretend that MORE restrictions on our second amendment rights will lower ownership.

California is attempting this through restrictive ammunition purchases.

No one is any safe in California for these laws. NO ONE. In fact, those who seek to protect themselves are LESS safe as a result.

Been there, done that, you wouldn't accept it even if it was 100% verifiable

But to offer something, treat guns like we do cars, require time lapsing registration, records of all sales, tests for operating licenses, liability insurance, etc.

Nothing you are offering would do anything to prevent a criminal intent on causing great harm in order to become famous.

Cars are not a Constitutional right. Guns are. There is a HUGE difference.

Why is it "truthie," when he ventures beyond his insults and corny videos, is usually wrong

Before Trump, conservatives professed endlessly that they believed in family values, curtailing deficits and debt, global markets, weakened Executive, judicial restraint, reducing descretionary spending, etc., but now, they have little problem with Trump reversing any of those, and in some cases, support Trump doing such

As I said, rewritten what were supposedly conservative principles

The second amendment is not an unlimited, unregulated right for the ownership of arms. Otherwise, you could go out right now and buy a hand grenade or 50 cal machine gun.

In the interest of public safety no one should be afraid of taking a psychological test to own a gun, and submitting to periodic psychological screening.

Then we should require psychological tests and submitting to periodic psychological screening to vote; right? After all, we wouldn't want clueless idiots voting would we?
