DO you agree with the president on meaningful background checks.

I wrote this to someone yesterday. What do you think?

I'd like to see the guns treated like a combination of the purchase of cold medicine at the pharmacy, and a driver's license. You have to show ID, get a background check; that info goes into a national database accessible to law enforcement and certified mental health professionals (MDs, PhDs, clinical psychologists, certified family/marriage counselors who must apply and be approved). Then you have to show that you qualify to use the firearm and store it properly; a written and practical test would be required. So would liability insurance in case you're careless and it's stolen and used in a crime. Every couple of years you have to renew your license and a check of that database is done at that time. If there is reason to believe that you are a danger, that info is entered into the database and red-flagged. If proven accurate, law enforcement will be empowered to temporarily remove your firearms until a hearing that shows that you're not dangerous and in compliance. We'd have to come up with a way that the owner wouldn't be unnecessarily burdened with court costs since owning the firearm IS a right.

NEVER gonna happen.

they can work, and they can go after the sick fucks who post online garbage of hate.
O r the relative who sees them go to the dark side.

Recall the 2nd is an individual right, and is very difficult to pass Constitutional gun control
But in this case there is evidence of an exigent situation, and I think SCOTUS would back it

And who is going to do all that, who makes the decision that one individual is a "sick fuck" and another posting isn't? Who is going confiscate the guns? Does every gun owner whose relative thinks is a nut case lose their weapons?

As I said, it is a minimal at best measure, sounds great, but nothing meaningful

It seems to me, Trumps supporters would generally disagree with what he is talking about regarding Gun Control, is it true?
What are your thoughts, do you agree with Trump?

What is meant by "meaningful background checks?" Are the one's were currently have meaningless??

Do criminals actually walk into stores, fill out a bunch of paperwork and wait 14 days to purchase an expensive firearm? Does anyone have any "meaningful" statistics that show this?

Is crime prevented by more laws? If that is the case, how come current laws haven't stopped criminals from breaking them? Anyone else see how stupid that argument is?

IN the past, Trumppers have basically called anyone proposing what Trump is proposing a RINO, and never vote for them again. What are your thoughts? IS Rump different?

LIE and LAME. Why do you feel compelled to lie all the time? Can't you argue without lying?

Eminently reasonable >>>

Gun Regulation in France

-French people must undergo psychological test before getting gun licence

-To own a gun, you first need to acquire a hunting or sporting licence, and this has to be regularly renewed and requires a psychological evaluation.

-Applicants with any criminal record are automatically refused.

-There is also a blacklist of around 18,000 people who are banned from owning a gun.

French gun ownership among highest in the world France is in 12th place in the world in the rankings of gun ownership, according to the Small Arms Survey.

Hunters own most of the legal weapons in France. Millions of these weapons are owned by hunters, who number around one million and make France the biggest hunting country in Europe.

No, what Trump calls "meaningful" will be defined "meaningful" by the NRA, meaning the minimal they will accept

Politically, Trump and the GOP realize Americans want to see something done on guns, especially suburban voters, so their going thru the motions. In the end, they will either find a way to blame Democrats for no action, or, pass some useless legislation Trump will herald as the "greatest in history"

What is your definition of meaningful background checks? Do laws prevent criminals from breaking them? How?

Trump rescinded Obama’s policy on removing guns from people unable to manage their own affairs.

The lawn care business owner I worked for in HS couldn't read or write, his wife kept all the records for the business.

If his wife died, he would have been screwed unless his brother or someone else took over for her.
Should he be deprived his 2nd. Amendment rights simply because he couldn't take care of his own finances?

it depends on how the law is written -it's not a panacea, but if it stopped a mass shooting it would be worth it.
If you ID a person with evidence of psych probs, or whatever criteria ( like the parents who call the cops a bunch of times - I think the Parkland ,Fl shooter fit that criteria

The El Paso kid might have been stopped, his mother tried.

Would "meaningful" background checks have stopped any of these shootings?

What is your solution to this rising problem?
Keep in mind, my generation didn't do this shit.

Been there, done that, you wouldn't accept it even if it was 100% verifiable

But to offer something, treat guns like we do cars, require time lapsing registration, records of all sales, tests for operating licenses, liability insurance, etc.

Is Trump correct, is it different this time because its coming from him?
Will he alone be able to get his base to accept Gun Control?

Gun control? What does that even mean? How does one control a gun; by using both hands?

If so, something good will have finally come from his administration!

A LOT of great things have come from Trump's administration. Just because you are too dishonest to acknowledge the OBVIOUS and FACTS doesn't make it less obvious.

Nope. Never gonna happen.
All but 3 of my firearms are unregistered. They will stay that way.

So you think he can come up with something watered down enough to please the NRA and make it look like he did something?

I want to know what you leftists think is "meaningful." I am not sure what that is supposed to mean. Help me out here. Give me an example of what "meaningful" legislation means and how it will stop lunatics from committing murders.

Perhaps if the Party of the Jackass and leftist media stopped sensationalizing these heinous acts, the perps wouldn't engage in them seeking their moment fame?

Spare me (again) your “if” bullshit.

Was he deemed in court to be unable to manage his own affairs or not?

France doesn't have a constitution like we do.

The second amendment is not an unlimited, unregulated right for the ownership of arms. Otherwise, you could go out right now and buy a hand grenade or 50 cal machine gun.

In the interest of public safety no one should be afraid of taking a psychological test to own a gun, and submitting to periodic psychological screening.

you need to find out how red flag laws work, evidence is collected by cops / health care pros (maybe family?) and presented as an exigent threat -and the guns are removed pending a hearing
