Med school entrance requirements are LESS for minority students.
For example, recent data for 2025 shows White matriculants with an average total MCAT of 512.5 and a GPA of 3.81, while Black or African American matriculants had an average MCAT of 505.7 and a GPA of 3.62.
And yet a Black student is more likely to matriculate into med school than a white student. So when you go to that neurosurgeon if you get a Black surgeon it is only natural to wonder if you got the best neurosurgeon or if he was accepted to med school with lesser qualifications. The same goes for residency progtrams too. You wonder if they were accepted because they earned their way the like Ben Carson did or if a woke program advanced them into the position.
Well he did go to medical and a residency with me and he was my medical partner for several years so I do know him pretty well. And no he can't speak Spanish.
Hey I would not have gone to Harvard anyway. My wife was a federal Court reporter and the bread winner while I was in Med School. Anyway the couple docs that I have worked with from Harvard weren't that good anyway. I went to UT Southwestern my top choice for medical school because it was in Dallas and I did not have to sell my home and relocate my family. Beside if you practice in Texas going to the best medical school in Texas is an advantage.
