Osama Obama doesn't have to stand for anything or be anything, he just has to not be Bush, which is pretty easy for him to do. Principles? What are those? Who gives a shit about principles? Nothing matters anymore, they aren't really even paying attention to his message. It's absolutely amazing to me, and unprecedented in American politics. At least with Jimmah Carter, there was some social conservatism and the 'outsider' or 'common man' thing to counter the distrustful feelings about government at the time. Obama is just a black man in a suit who gives eloquent speeches, and he's not Bush, that's the most important requirement.

Obama is a better candidate for President than you give him credit for. You have toilet paper in your ears again, though; I noticed that you didn't even take time to respond to any of the replies on your Obama-slamming thread that was full of all kinds of crazy hyperbole the other day. You just don't want to hear it, as usual. You want to believe what you believe, facts be damned.

And I was excited, all through the primary process, because ANY of the candidates would be better than the flunkie imbecile who you & yours foisted on us for the past 7+ years. I'm excited about this election regardless; McCain, flawed as he is, will still be light years better than Bush if he wins.

"Better than Bush" is not a bad standard. We have to turn this thing around, one way or another; Bush has ridden the economy, our reputation, the military & a host of other things completely into the ground. Whoever wins, they're going to at least start the process of building back, and returning America to form.

I took complete sentences, not just words. I posted entire paragraphs. Sure if you take words I have previously written, and paste them together to make new sentences, and take those sentences and paste them together to make new paragraphs you can change what I said. But note I took full sentences.

You took full sentences completely out of context. As I said, in the very thread you took the complete sentence from, I stated my position on abortion, and it did not involve stoning. I had stated, as my position on abortion, that I felt it was acceptable in cases of rape, incest, and mother's life. Some pro-life antagonist came along and called me a hypocrite, because they thought I should believe in no abortion under any circumstance. The sentence you pulled, was part of an illustration to a point. The point being, it doesn't matter what my personal viewpoints are, that doesn't relate to what I can accept as a part of a larger society of people. Can you not comprehend that, dumbass? I've said it 15 times in this thread alone, and apparently you are just stubborn or ignorant, maybe a little of both. I understand your defensiveness on this, and why you feel the way you do. It's been a tough 7+ years for you, and I empathize. It will all come to an end in January, though.

I'm not going to apologize for "not liking Bush." I don't like him. Many, many people are dead because of him & his stupidity, and many more have suffered. When we are no longer a superpower, we'll probably be able to trace the 'beginning of the end' back to the Bush years. He has done more to hurt America than any President in my lifetime, by a wide margin.

And I actually DO care what Obama stands for, and what's he's about. If you'll notice, there have been many threads by me & other lefties on this board, criticizing Obama for some of his policy shifts & expressing disillusionment. As I said before, I think you tend to hyperbolize that & everything else about him. Every Presidential candidate I can remember - including Bush & McCain - has shifted in ways that have pissed off their base. It doesn't make Obama soul-less & coreless; it just makes him another politician. But he's still light years ahead of the stupidity & incompetence of Bush, so I'm still excited about the election.

And it's you who always claims to "speak for Americans," though you don't. I think you live in a pretty insular world down there in Alabammy. Alabammy is not the rest of America. I don't speak for Americans, but we happen to be at a point in history when more agree with me and my outlook than you & yours. Tough luck on that one.

Explain to us WHY Obama is "light years ahead of Bush"? Is it because he wants to withdraw us from Iraq? In light of the current situation with Iran, I think we are sitting in a pretty good strategic location next door. But wait, Obama says he won't withdraw from Iraq if there is a terrorist threat... uhm, who does he think we have been fighting for the past 5 years? Is it because he wants Universal Hillarycare? Hell, McCain wants that too! It doesn't matter who we elect, we are going to have government-run healthcare shoved down our throat regardless! Is it because of illegal immigration? Again, doesn't matter who we elect, we should all be learning Spanish. Repealing the Bush tax cuts? McCain voted against them twice, doesn't seem like he is a big fan of those any more than Obama. So what is so appealing about the black man in a suit? Is it because he is black and wears a suit? Is it because he looks nice and speaks well? Or is it simply because he has a fucking D beside his name, and you are too blindly partisan to give a shit about anything else?
