Hello Damo,
Because I agree with the sentiment encompassed by the word Brandon. I spent four years reading "Orange Man" and "Trumpf" and "Drumpf" and myriad others, and never said anything about it because there is nothing more American than making fun of a President of the USA.
I also never heard you say a word against the folks calling Trump some nonsense. Why do you care why I call this pResident Brandon but never once spoke out when someone on your side called Trump something other than Trump? I think you know why.
Personally, I am not a hypocrite, I called nobody out about "Drumpf" or "Project Orange Man" or "That guy in the office with the bad tan" or "Tweeter in Chief" or "Trumpf"... and will also never call anyone out for making fun of any other politicians. Nobody deserves it more. You will also note I never once called Obama anything other than Obama....
If taking the worst of the left as the example to be matched, then that amounts to aspiring to the worst of the right. Why let the immature set the tone? The folly of sterotyping in action. It becomes a disadvantage.
I have also lamented about those on the left who take cheap shots, have many times attempted to explain to them why that should not be done, how it hurts the left. But alas. A message is unlikely to be received well by those determined not to be receptive to it.
Everybody has to decide for themselves what code of morality they aspire to.
I called President Trump President Trump. I call President Biden President Biden. I called President Obama President Obama.
In a world where every common voice is taking cheap shots, I choose to bypass all of that and focus on the issues.
Name-calling is only a distraction. What has the person done? Does the individual deserve criticism for his or her actions. Those issues are the real things affecting our nation and our lives. The distraction of name-calling diminishes from strong points made on the real pressing issues.
A good argument will stand on it's own merit.
A good argument does not require insults. If insults are used, it compromises the merit of a good argument.
Using a person's real name makes a post all about what is said about the actions and issues. That is the crux of a good debate.
