Democrats Back Down on Assault Weapons Ban!

As with most gun control issues, it's not actually that unpopular at all:

http://www.saysuncle.com/archives/2004/04/26/poll-majority-support-assault-weapons-ban/

That's 71% who support it.

The people opposed to the ban are just EXTREMELY loud about it, making it appear more unpopular than it actually is. And a lot of supporters would stop supporting simply because of this ban, while very few people would stop supporting because someone oppose the ban. So in a way it makes political sense.

did you even bother reading the short article you linked to?

You want to take down a corrupt government? It's called an election. If someone tries to usurp power, they will have no political support, and will be removed from power If something doesn't have enough popular support to win an election, it's unlikely it's going to win a revolution.

ah, here is stupid. someone who refuses to read history nor learn from it.

Yeah, cuz that works so well out on the street when you are the only heducated guy and the other people just want to throw up...

Dude, that's why blended synthetic fiber suits were invented. You just wash the shit off and get on with life.

I am very glad that the assault weapons ban seems dead.

I am looking at putting together a hunting combo that will make the anti-gun folks have fits.

I want an AR-15 platform with a 20" or 22" target bbl. I am going to add a night vision scope (probably Gen I because of the costs). And I want to check on a suppressor/silencer for the rig too.

If I can set up this rig I will start thinning the coyote population in a big way.

Its not always about the "macho factor". Sometimes its about the right tool for the job.

Well you do have a point but what about our point? There are some gun advocates out there that shouldn't be allowed to handle a pair of nail clippers let alone an automatic weapon (several of them notably posting on here). What about them? You want to see some wacko like STY with an automatic weapon getting on your bus? Would you trust him with anything more deadly then a dull butter knife or a plastic spoon??

Ya know I'm willing to meet on the middle like this. How about licensing and training? I have to have training in order to obtain a hunting license. Shouldn't that be true with purchasing an automatic weapon? That the person have to pass required training on safely managing said weapon before they can purchase it? I really don't understand the need for automatic weapons in public but let's go with the training. That way we can keep the nutjobs from getting a hold of these weapons and give the STY's of the world their dull butter knifes and plastic spoons, the second ammendmant is preserved and the publics safety is addressed and STY has weapon he can be trusted with and everyone is happy. Would this work for you Sol?

Im certain STY could handle any firearms safely. How would a training class keep him from getting one? WOuld you like a political belief test?

Lmao

Some folks need a gun to make themselves feel manly. But I don't think that is the majority of gun owners.

Most of the ones that I have met just genuinely enjoy shooting, hunting, the history and the art of the gunsmith.

Sure. Count me in that club too but when I hear guy's like STY talking about guns I get this mental image of Gomer in "Full Metal Jacket" at the end of boot camp lovingly breaking down and reassembling his M-16. This is not a comforting thought!!!

We also wouldn't be free without artillery, mortars, grenades, etc. Can I have some please? The fourth of July is right around the corner and I don't have anything capable of disabling an armored car.

ROTLMAO! You made my point in many less words! Kudo's sir and welocme back! LOL LOL LOL :clink:

Good luck says we have no freedom unless people are able to own nuclear weapons.

Come on....sing along....

Come on Generals lets move fast. Your big chance has come at last. Now you can go out and get those Reds cause the only good commie is one that's dead and you know that peace can only be won when we've blown them all to kingdom come.....and it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for? Don't ask me I don't give damn, next stop is Vietnam and it's 5,6,7 open up the pearly gates. Well there aint no time to wonder why, WHOOPEE, were all gonna die! :clink:

So how would a training class stop STY from getting the firearms he richly deserves as an American citizen? You still haven't elucidated your idiotic argument.

Sorry AssHat....but you're one of the wacko's that I was reffering to when I said that being armed with anything more than a dull butter knife or a plastic spoon would be deeply disturbing.:pke:

But you still have failed to explain how a safety class would stop STY from getting the guns he wants. Is that because you;re a stupid moron?

Why should you be afraid of me?

no compromise. shall not be infringed. 'reasonable restrictions' on the second amendment thwarts the purpose and main reason for the right to bear arms. It's not a right that is granted when others can trust me, it's a right I have until I prove I'm not capable of handling it. Much like all the other rights you enjoy. No license and you find your own training.

so any former active duty military person should lose their second amendment rights?

well, if you were referring to asshat hurting himself with a dull butter knife.....afraid that's not going to happen. you can only kill zombies by shooting them in the head.

What if he stumbles and accidently poked the dull butter knife through his eye and into his head?

Oh God! I knew I should have limited it to a plastic spoon!! All's I wanted was for him to be able to eat his pudding with out fear of his hurting himself!!
