Democratic lawmakers vote to release former President Trump’s tax returns

as already covered.....in the oral arguments before the court the committee argued that they had a constitutional obligation to see if the IRS was filling its duty to examine the tax records of elected officials........the court said, for that purpose, they had a right to the documents

absolutely not........making them public is not part of the committee's duty to regulate the IRS.......there is no to even make a rational argument that it is......

So again, if it's not legal, why is the SCOTUS allowing it?

They have consistently ruled against Trump and have not weighed in on this issue at all.

So your argument is missing something.

Ways and Means has the authority. it is in plain and clear English. Trump had no case, he just used the courts to delay it as long as he could. Time ran out.

Who would even know what violations, errors, and cheating was done on Trump tax returns, since the IRS never looked at them.

did not audit them (until 2019) does not mean did not look at them.......by the way, the claim he paid only $750 in taxes is not true......it is based on a Times article which actually stated......

The Trump campaign noted that the Times story has no allegation of wrongdoing against the president. The article is based on “incomplete documents and is “inaccurate as the President has paid tens of millions of dollars in taxes,” a spokesman said. However, both during Thursday’s presidential debate and the previous week’s town hall, Trump referred to the $750 figure as a filing fee. During the second debate, he said that he has prepaid “millions and millions of dollars” in taxes, though the week before, he said he did not know if he paid more than $750.

Trump paid $70.1 million in income taxes from 2005 to 2007, according to the Times story. It also noted that in the 2016 and 2017 tax years, Trump paid a total $5.2 million, but those payments were “rolled forward to cover potential taxes in future years” while the president tapped tax credits to address his tax liability.

it should also be noted that the IRS and Trump are still working on the audit of his 2010 taxes dealing with losses set off against taxes.....

Cut the BS, Trumps Treasury secretary made sure that his taxes were never reviewed. Where is your anger at this?

directed at the committee which is threatening to violate federal law......which lied to the SC about their reason for obtaining the tax returns.......

I am far more concerned that his own people would not do their job and audit Trumps returns. Just another example of the massive corruption within that administration. We actually know little of what else went on.

do you seriously believe that the IRS auditors in place in April of 2017 were Trump's "people".......you know NOTHING of what was going on.....

when did the SC allow it.....the committee just voted to do it on Tuesday, has the SC made a decision that we are not aware of?...

How long do they need?

I'm sure they got the news before we did and they probably had days or even weeks of advance knowledge of how the committee was going to vote, so it's not like his was some kind of surprise bombshell news to them.

They've had plenty of time to formulate what their reaction was going to be.
