Deep fried Pelican.....

Sure; because that's the only position aside from "drill, baby, drill!"

No but how would you to respond to another stupid ass post by Jarod? Should one who drives a SUV but claims to not want to drill offshore in the U.S. but prefer their oil come from overseas feel all high and mighty about themselves?

Nope, thats not my position.

I still believe we need to drill. The reality is, if we want to end foreign dependence we'll need a solid "tweener" energy resource. Pretending that the future promise of some discovery is the only option is just plain wrong at a point in time we need the jobs.

This is like one bank causing an issue and stopping all new banks from being created. It's self-punishing feel good nonsense that isn't doing any "good". Make sure any new platforms don't get a free pass to ignore the regulations and actually do the work you promised so many times before you took office.. Attempting a "Rahm" version of "never letting a good crisis get by unused" by saying we need to punish ourselves... just *ugh*...

It'd make more sense to put the money towards alternative energy.

I agree we have to drill, at least for a few more years. But not willy nilly, not Drill, Baby, Drill, More like Drill, Responsably, Drill. With an all out, going to the moon type effort to get off oil.

Restricting oil drilling in the US only shifts it elsewhere where you libtard enviro-nuts can't regulate it at all.

Nigeria's agony dwarfs the Gulf oil spill. The US and Europe [libtards] ignore it

more oil is spilled from the [Nigerian] delta's network of terminals, pipes, pumping stations and oil platforms every year than has been lost in the Gulf of Mexico, the site of a major ecological catastrophe caused by oil that has poured from a leak triggered by the explosion that wrecked BP's Deepwater Horizon rig last month.

I'd rather drill for it here, where we can do so responsibly, along with reaping the economic benefits that you lib-tards also ignore.

yeah, these democrat tools think there is no more oil here. There are billions of barrells and trillions of dollars to keep in our economy. It's time to kick the terrorist supporters out of office.

we should all stop using cars

It would make more sense to do both.

1. Money from taxing oil (which is definitely taxed) can be put towards it.
2. If you actually want to create jobs (rather than temporary census jobs in huge numbers) you need to have energy for people to use.
3. If people can't work because their jobs close due to energy shortages their money also cannot be taxed, there would be still less money to put towards such research.
