You stay till the job is done, it was clearly not done in 2011 now was it? Would you have just let ISIS take over Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Kurdistan and Tunisia? Clinton voted for the war so she owns the problem if she's elected.OK, but do we stay for 20 years?? 50??
Perhaps if it was some nice country w/ white sand beaches packed w/ bikini's & beer Americans & Britis wouldn't mind so much.![]()
It ain't rocked science....its simple history
Again for the imbeciles at the back, the SAS is actively engaged in Libya and Syria. The RAF are also performing daily bombing sorties in Syria and Iraq.Bawahahaha!!

The Russians are in Syria, so what? That's simplistic talk.
We were there a decade. How long were the Russians in Afghanistan? Some places are just black holes for "nationbuilding" assignments like that.

The Sunnis would end up with no oil and they will never accept that. All the oil is in places like Basra or Kurdish Iraq. By the way, Afghanistan was not always a shithole. When I have more time I'll post some stuff by Adam Curtis about the country. I have no problem with Kurds getting their own country but the Turks, Syrians, Iraqis and Iranians do not agree.
If you are going to blame the Brits then surely the French should also be blamed? After all the Sykes-Picot agreement was Anglo-French. I think you also need to go back further to the Ottoman Empire as well.

So we rollback ISIS in Sirte, create yet another insurgency -while Libya has become a nation of City States.
Yankee Doodle
Qadaffi kept the country together, and now it's fragmented. There is reason for hope, stop being such a gloomy Gus! Libya never had a strong army, while Qaddafi had 120,000 soldiers, the artillery was on one side of the country and the ammo on the other because he was scared of an insurrection. They are now gradually building a national army, it is already up to 30,000 men. They have liberated the whole of Benghazi city from ISIS control after two years of fighting. The army is currently under a UN arms sanctions despite the huge task that it has undertaken in fighting terrorists in this part of Libya. Most of Libya's problems stem from the fact that Ghaddafi ran everything, he was such a control freak that he refused to delegate decision making.

Support for the U.N.-backed unity government in Libya is "crumbling" amid increased power outages and a weakening currency that is hitting crucial imports, the United Nations' envoy to the embattled north African country told a newspaper.
The Government of National Accord (GNA) has been struggling to impose its authority on a country riven by political and armed rivalries, posing extra challenges as it tries to quash Islamic State jihadist militants.
