Dear Mrs. trump

You're trying manfully to forge a link between Soeiro's actions and the Obama WH but it's weak. I wouldn't argue that Soeiro appears to be anti-trump. But unless you can prove that Soeiro only decided the books had racist elements on September 26, 2017, you've got nothing.

And your comment about "left wing race baiters" is the real proof of your agenda.
Noooooooooooo :palm:

The Obamas did nothing wrong or inappropriate. They enjoyed Dr. Seuss as well as everybody else. You got that? Clear now?

LIZ was the hypocrite here. SHE was the one who had no problem with Dr. Seuss in the past as evidenced by her costume and participating with yearly Dr. Seuss birthday parties commemorating the man.

Along comes Trump and all of a sudden, she declares Dr. Seuss books racist.

LIZ is the jerk here.......NOT the Obamas or any other past First Ladies.

So get your shorts unknotted and calm down. No body has said one bad thing about your precious Michelle.

Yes, I understand all that. You guys are complaining that Soeiro was playing the situational racist card... that the book wasn't racist in 2015 but it's racist now. And you're trying to say that Soeiro wouldn't have talked that way about the books when Obama was in the WH but she changed her position when trump got in.

My position is that we don't know where she was between 2015 and 2017. And that we don't know if she would criticize the books if Michelle gave them. Perhaps she read an article like this that changed her opinion of Seuss's books. Perhaps she never realized until recently that Seuss drew cartoons like these:

And finally, you claimed that nobody said one bad thing about Michelle but that's not accurate, either.

Love where she says she's "an advocate for inclusive libraries" LOL!!!!!! Liar.

Turns out that Ted Geisel (AKA Doctor Seuss was another rayciss DEMOCRAT, just like Hillary's favorite Senator.

Geisel was a liberal Democrat

Of course Christiecrite forgave Byrd, didn't you, Christiecrite?

Answer, Christiecrite. :rofl2:

According to his bio Byrd renounced his early racism and spent the rest of his life making up for it, so... why not forgive him?

Maybe you wouldn't but some of us have hearts.

Btw... did Mark Twain's books contain racism, yes or no? Do you support taking Twain's books out of HS English classes, yes or no? Answer. NOW.

Oh no, what was his issue?
everybodys got issues. Those drawings by Geisel are from the 1920-40's. from your link:
the images are depressing because they reveal that one of America's most original artist-authors had the same tired views of non-whites that his contemporaries did.
-captures the monotonous racist endemic in white society of that time.
Whites had no concept or desire for understanding of any "native" ( common parlance of the era) cultures.

It would have been nice if somehow Geisel had risen above that ignorance, but he was just another cartoonist contemporary of that era.
Nobody's life is perfect. It bothered him later in lief about drawing Japanese as buck toothed monsters..
but you can't go back in life.

The Dr Seuss books were his masterpieces.enjoy them for what they are- they are not racists- they are childrens books

I was asking about L. Frank Baum, not Geisel.

ookk.. i still hope you found my post a worthwhile perspective about Geisel's contemporary racism

Since I wrote the first post, I discovered that Baum called for the extermination of all Native Americans.

From his Sitting Bull editorial:
The proud spirit of the original owners of these vast prairies inherited through centuries of fierce and bloody wars for their possession, lingered last in the bosom of Sitting Bull. With his fall the nobility of the Redskin is extinguished, and what few are left are a pack of whining curs who lick the hand that smites them. The Whites, by law of conquest, by justice of civilization, are masters of the American continent, and the best safety of the frontier settlements will be secured by the total annihilation of the few remaining Indians. Why not annihilation? Their glory has fled, their spirit broken, their manhood effaced; better that they die than live the miserable wretches that they are.
