LIZ was the hypocrite here. SHE was the one who had no problem with Dr. Seuss in the past as evidenced by her costume and participating with yearly Dr. Seuss birthday parties commemorating the man.
Along comes Trump and all of a sudden, she declares Dr. Seuss books racist.

Yes, I understand all that. You guys are complaining that Soeiro was playing the situational racist card... that the book wasn't racist in 2015 but it's racist now. And you're trying to say that Soeiro wouldn't have talked that way about the books when Obama was in the WH but she changed her position when trump got in.
My position is that we don't know where she was between 2015 and 2017. And that we don't know if she would criticize the books if Michelle gave them. Perhaps she read an article like this that changed her opinion of Seuss's books. Perhaps she never realized until recently that Seuss drew cartoons like these:

everybodys got issues. Those drawings by Geisel are from the 1920-40's. from your link:

Whites had no concept or desire for understanding of any "native" ( common parlance of the era) cultures.
It would have been nice if somehow Geisel had risen above that ignorance, but he was just another cartoonist contemporary of that era.
Nobody's life is perfect. It bothered him later in lief about drawing Japanese as buck toothed monsters..
but you can't go back in life.
The Dr Seuss books were his masterpieces.enjoy them for what they are- they are not racists- they are childrens books
