Daniel Penny ‘should be celebrated’ - Open Thread

That has a chilling effect (your words) of bringing in the Minority Report justice.

questions for you....

1. should police officers wait until they are actually fired upon before shooting back? or is the raised weapon enough to justify self defense?

2. should people in a crowd wait until they are actually beaten before exercising self defense? or is the threatening and 'in your face' blustering enough to feel threatened and exercise self defense?

Which is why all the Insurrectionists should have been shot down when they breached the police line. Next time I suspect they will be….which may be why they are all in hiding now. LOL

I honestly think we would have had to be there to know what happened.
The jury will see all of the evidence.
Most of us won't.
Even after a verdict is rendered, most of us won't ever know if it was a just one or net.

No matter. We'll all have opinions anyway.

Exactly

That's a good point. It does tell us that he wasn't really mentally ill, at least not for the most time.

Penny knew that.
There is evidence that he did reconnaissance on Neely’s movements and followed him into the subway with the intent of murdering him.
Also, considering that Neely was black and Penny white, this was a hate crime. Premeditated hate crime.
Penny should hang.

No death of an American should be celebrated. The fact Americans like Jordan Neely are ignored in society until someone kills him is extremely sad.

He’s had 42 arrests since 2013…that’s ten years ago for the Trumpers  Tell me he wasn’t mentally ill and abandoned by New York City and state?

He should have been in prison a long time ago because he is a danger to society

You just make shit up as you go along don’t you?

You have no idea if he was mentally ill since his medical records are not public record yet
He was chronically homeless. Tell me that you consider that to be 100% sane.

IMO, anyone who acts contrary to their best interests is irrational. Ergo, they have mental health issues. Like Trump voters.

A New York City police spokesperson told Newsweek that Neely's record has 42 prior arrests, dating between 2013 and 2021. They include four for alleged assault, while others involved accusations of transit fraud and criminal trespass. At the time of his death, Neely had one active warrant for an alleged assault in connection with a 2021 incident.

Many of Neely's arrests were for alleged violations of local law, the spokesperson said, and involved lower-level offenses such as having an open container of alcohol in public.

“Neely's family says he suffered from mental illness, which started at age 14 after his mother was murdered. NYPD sources say police had more than a dozen encounters with him over the years in which he appeared to be suffering mental health problems. "Our vision is to create a better system," Mayor Eric Adams said.”2 days ago

There are around 57 million mentally ill people in the United States but most don’t go around attacking people and threatening to kill them.

Neely was a violent criminal who has an extensive record and threatened people on a train with violence

Agreed. Please tell me how I tell the difference between wackos like you and AHZ from the violent ones? The ones that decide it’s good to poison the Kool-Aid of a Liberal picnic or place a car bomb at a Synagogue? Extremists, be they Left or Right, take extreme, and often violent, actions. They justify killing or harming people for their perceived cause. How do I tell if TaichiLiberal doesn’t poison the Kool-Aid at a Bud Light Drinker’s Anonymous meeting? Or BP ram her hybrid into a school bus full of Nuns?

Feel free to PM me if it’s a “secret”.

You can’t tell the difference which is why you always need to use the same amount of force.

If a man says he’s going to start killing people and doesn’t care if the police shoot him then he should be taken out.
The state of NY were fully aware of his mental condition but chose to let him out on the streets after 43 arrests and 4 convictions for assaults

Thanks for acknowledging his mental condition and NYC’s, plus the State’s, failure to help him and protect the public.

Too bad he resided in a democrat run city with a broken legal system.

The country’s greatest city, ain’t a whole lot of people planning visits to Salina, Kansas, or your gated village

Poor anchovies, WAS once one of the country's greatest cities, now a place wants to escape from. Might just throw Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago, and Minneapolis in that same bucket.
As for Salinas KS, I suspect the good people of that city are very content with you alt lefties staying as far away as possible from their city thank you very much.
