Daniel Penny charged with manslaughter in Jordan Neely’s subway chokehold death

He would be alive if Penny hadn't cut blood flow to his brain and killed him.

The defenders of Penny don't care. In their minds it was a justifiable death. Notice the constant repetition of the victim's alleged legal violations. Remember, George Floyd deserved to be choked to death too because he also had a rap sheet. Oh, and their race wasn't quite right either.

I can guarantee you that if the victim had been a pretty young white woman acting bizarrely and raving, and she was choked to death by a former Marine who was black, Earl, Toxic TOP, et al would be calling for his immediate execution.

How many people will be at the funeral tomorrow to hear Al Sharpton give the eulogy for someone he didn't know? Just think if only a few of those people had cared as much for Jordan Neely when he was alive he might very well be alive today...

That's unfortunate, isn't it ? But he should have never been on the train that day having a psychotic episode... it will be interesting to see what else if anything contributed to his death... There will always be those such as yourself who will place the entire blame on Daniel Penny ...who was just trying to protect everyone else n the car... and according to those interviewed so far justifiably so..

I don't care how much you want to blame Bragg or Neely's mom or a teacher that was mean to him in school or the judge who didn't keep him in jail....there is one person who's actions directly resulted in the death of Neely on that day on the subway. Everything else is an attempt to distract from that fact.

I'm sure you believe that...

I don't like to assume racism, but I think the tone would be much different here if a black guy choked out a white girl with a mile long rap sheet.

Less and less people are able to look at situations objectively. Everything is through the media-created lens of right and left or Dem and Rep or Liberal and Conservative. Nobody wants to give an inch to the other side, even if it means forfeiting any semblance of reason.

You can say that Neely shouldn't be free AND acknowledge that Penny's negligence is why he's dead.

My take on this sad event is that

1. Neely needed help and did not receive it -- or was offered and rejected it.
2. From all accounts, he acted in an aggressive and frightening manner on public transportation.
3. Some citizens were concerned and endeavored to restrain him until metro cops could arrive.
4. One of them went too aggressive and caused his death.
5. The person who caused his death was charged, IMO justifiably, with manslaughter.
6. The Left sees this as some racist event.
7. The Right sees it as a justified death because the victim had an allegedly violent past, the accused is a vet (which they suddenly care about), and now he's a hero. He's like fatmurderboy Rittenhouse and deserves to have millions of dollars sent to him by fearful, sick, psychotic people who have never been to NYC, much less traveled on the subway.

That is pretty much spot-on.

Believing that Penny should be charged doesn't mean that I see Neely as a hero.

So, as I asked previously, do you believe a cop would have been justified in shooting/killing Neely had one been on the scene?

There were no cops present. No firearms were present. You are going off the rails. Stay on track.

I never thought of it as racist. I guess I will have to rethink it.

Correct, but luckily we all have eyes. He put Neely in a hold, around his neck, that was specifically designed to NOT cut off airflow, but only blood flow and the second he went limp, Penny immediately rolled him into a specific recovery position, that is designed to protect the unconscious person against, among other things, choking on their own vomit if they should throw up. But, yes, I'm sure that was all just a coincidence.

I'll take the witness's account over yours. You weren't there, they were. End of discussion.

You don't know what the fuck you're babbling about. Why is everything "race" to you? Fuck you and your race bating. You'd better quit while you're behind.

Looks like the arrow struck home.

I don't think the event had much, if anything, to do with race. The Reichwing reaction to it though? Just look who's defending the accused here, some of whom I've known for years on various forums. Their emotional reaction is way out of proportion to the circumstances, esp. their hate for the dead guy and praise for his killer. Ditto for their favorite media sources.

Correct, there were no cops present, no knives present and no guns present. There were a number of ways that this situation could have been handled by Penny or anybody else on the subway at that moment. As it turned out, Penny chose to handle it in a dangerous and reckless manner that resulted in the ending of a human life. Responsibility for that decision and outcome falls squarely on penny.
