Crowds flock to reopened Jacksonville beaches as Florida hits record coronavirus case

No it does not in any way, shape or form.
so when you said people killing themselves you meant something other than literally killing themselves? Fair enough what did you mean?

People are dying from this virus, and a person infected by the irresponsible idiots on those beaches could very well be one of those people.
people die in car accidents every day you stay out of traffic?
Based on your logic, it's okay for people to drive drunk, because not all drunk drivers kill someone.
No based on my logic is it okay for people to operate vehicles. Just because a large number of people die every year doesn't mean we shouldn't do it.

I'll use my drunk driving analogy and maybe this will hit home. Imagine a thread about a bunch of people getting hammered and hopping in their cars on a Saturday night at Jax beach. (And really, you don't have to imagine it, once this is over, you can see it for yourself). Then imagine someone was defending this behavior, suggesting they have the right to harm themselves if they want to. Now imagine I replied to that with "If they want to kill themselves, that's their business, but when they kill me, it becomes my business". Obviously, I'm not implying that every one of those drunks was going to kill someone. Yes, people die in car accidents, but we make certain behaviors illegal IN ORDER TO SAVE LIVES. That's exactly what we're talking about here.

turn off it won't hit home with me I find it not to be apt.

you're drunk driving analogy is not apt, therefore there's no reason for me to imagine that it's not relevant to the discussion.

again your analogy is poor. Intoxication is something that you do with intent and knowingly and it complicates the task of driving. Being infected with a virus is not something you do with intent and you might be without knowing.
Yes, people die in car accidents, but we make certain behaviors illegal IN ORDER TO SAVE LIVES. That's exactly what we're talking about here.
You misunderstand. Just by being in traffic you are risking your life even if you're not a reckless driver and you're risking everyone else's life around you.

Nope. You knowingly and with intent ignore social distancing and go to the beach. You declaration that the analogy is poor doesn't make it poor.

If this was analogous to drunk drives the state would ban all traffic until alcohol is gone

social distancing is much different at the beach. It's basically no direct contact or shared things.
The virus can only live about a couple minutes in salt water/breeze and sunlight - but more important is the virus disperses if air born, and has no hard smooth surfaces to adhere to.

It can only be passed then by direct contact including direct coughing on another person.
Keep you hands to yourself, and don't bump into people is about it.
I would suggest you look more carefully at the tansmissions factors

There ya go teaching common sense again! ;)

Jacksonville:

Saturday 4-25

Positive Residents 942
Hospitalizations 92
Deaths 18
Positive Non-Residents 23

Active Cases 965

New cases on 4-24 ... 21

Active Cases and Hospitalizations still rising. No peak yet.

It is too early to tell if opening the beaches for limited recreation has had an effect.

It has only been a week since they did this, and the numbers have been rising the whole time. Apparently it was felt that as long as people practice safe social distancing that this sort of outdoor recreation would not pose a significant impact. Time will tell.

You're going to wear yourself out before two weeks is over. Just quote the idiots saying "the sun will kill the virus because it's bright" or "Hydroxychloroquine is a miracle cure" to document it and wait.

.
I will say this again for the terminally fucking stupid, this virus along with most others cannot propogate with strong UV, heat and humidity. Florida has all three!! Polly Shit Talker ought to shut the fuck up and stop squawking!

There's one vote for people sunbathing nude and, as King Rama's subjects have to do, bend over and show their asses to the Sun. Gotta kill them germs!

No problem. I seem to have plenty of time on my hands these days. I wonder how long it takes to mow the lawn with nail clippers?

Your ignorance is sublime. The virus can spread by talking, breathing, coughing or sneezing. There are no smooth surfaces at beaches? LOL at you. Garbage cans, cones, strollers, cellphones, just for starters. The people in this picture are selfish morons. Period.

That's pretty tedious! Learn a new skill. Hard to pick up a hobby with Hobby Lobby closed and Amazon is taking an extra week to deliver.

I admit to wasting faaaaarrrrr too much time here instead of writing. I've been writing my nephew 3-5 page letters of my experiences in the military. He enjoys them and my wife likes reading them too. She says I should write a book but it'd be more like novelette so no. Still, I enjoy writing them. I've always enjoyed reading as a kid and young adult with thoughts about writing short stories, but all of my writings have been technical or biographical.

How wonderful! I’ve been writing my nieces, stories of their great grandmother.
