Criminal award desecrates prize

Awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo desecrated the prize and could harm China-Norway ties.

Liu was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment on Dec. 25, 2009 after a local court convicted him of agitation aimed at subverting the government.

The Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded to people who contribute to national harmony, country-to-country friendship, advancing disarmament, and convening and propagandizing peace conferences.

This was the wish of Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prizes.

Liu is a criminal sentenced by Chinese judicial authorities for violating law.

What he has done is contrary to the purpose of the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel committee's decision to award such a person the peace prize ran contrary to and desecrated the prize.

China and Norway had enjoyed sound development of bilateral ties in recent years. This was conducive to the fundamental interests of the two nations and their peoples.

Awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Liu might harm China-Norway ties.

One thing that Beijing has difficulty with is that the Nobel Prize committee is totally independant of the Norwegian government. Totally. 100%. For the control they have, the committee might as well be in another country.

The Nobel committee showed themselves to be mindless twits a long time ago. They have turned the prize into a political boobie prize. It's now an award for the politically correct, and nothing more.

Nelson Mandela 1993 Nobel Peace Prize winner.
In 1962 he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and other charges, and sentenced to life in prison. Mandela served 27 years in prison.

Bad laws are the worst sort of tyranny.

Not really. It's still a totalitarian fascist system. Just because you have KFC doesn't mean you're free.

Are you really that ignorant?

Lots of big words, but maybe your mom can help you: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_China"]History of China - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Territories_of_Dynasties_in_China.gif" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/54/Territories_of_Dynasties_in_China.gif/300px-Territories_of_Dynasties_in_China.gif"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/5/54/Territories_of_Dynasties_in_China.gif/300px-Territories_of_Dynasties_in_China.gif[/ame]

You prefer the Quing dynasty? Or maybe the rule of the warlords? Perhaps the Japanese occupation was more to your taste?

Idiot.

Im saying its still a totalitarian system today. That's just a fact. What's your issue this morning? Are you having your monthly flow?

True, China's government is far from perfect, yet 'totalitarian' misses the mark.

My issue, as you so childishly put it, is with your infantile desire to shock through the use of hyperbole.

Just curious, who nominated you as the world's arbiter of other people's political systems?

Totalitarian hits the mark. They have no freedoms by law to speak of.

The party controls everything.

I am the arbiter of people's political systems because i can see things and describe them accurately.

With this ability i deem thee a douchebag.

Thanks for clearing that up.

With your keen wit and discerning ability to debate issues on their merits, I'm surprised you haven't been awarded a Nobel prize yourself.

Me too. My time is coming.

I see you have no argument that china is NOT a totalitarian system. All you've done is attack the messenger, committing the logical fallacy of the ad hominem attack. Way to go, fuckface.

I confidently await the news of your nomination.

China, like all nations, has some totalitarian characteristics, some authoritarian characteristics, and some democratic characteristics.

I note with envy the masterful avoidance of fallaciousness in your riposte.

Care to point out any more flaws in my debating stye?
