Coulter Bagged by Media Matters

This is huge. Media Matters has been pressuring NBC to cancel el bitcho for about a week now. And they did it!

This is the liberal blogosphere and it has finally given liberals some long-sought power. This is what is going to play to Obama's advantage if only he will use it.

Ann Coulter's appearance on the "Today" show has been canceled.

NBC had come under fire for booking Coulter, who had been scheduled to promote her new book, Guilty, on the "Today" show Thursday morning.

But on her website, Coulter announced that the appearance had been "cancelled" (via):

TODAY SHOW AND TODAY SHOW FOURTH HOUR: CANCELLED!

I guess this ends the "they just want to get ratings" argument about liberal media bias.

The liberal media watchdog group Media Matters launched a campaign last week asking, "Is NBC going to help Coulter sell this book?"

And of course those in denial will still insist "there is no left wing bias in the msm".....

Its always been there, its just they are finally not trying to hide it....
They won't even fake a pretense of objectivity or fairness in reporting to the public....
Obermann led the way....hes a trend setter....

Well, there really is no need to hide it anymore, is there? Let me give you a little advice Bravo, and you'd do well to listen up, lest you should spend the better part of The Messiah's term in an orange jumpsuit, a color I can't imagine suiting your no doubt pasty complexion:

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. We can ixnay Ann Coulter. We can throw her off a building even. For the next eight years, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat, there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to, The Messiah Years.

Oh, man - was that a great show.

lol you probably think you're joking

No, I think she means it, though not the 'Messiah' part. It's their 'time.' Problem is if there is a change over, which is inevitable, there is going to be bigtime payback. Not for the Coulter, hell I hate her. Rather for what Pelosi is doing.

i have no doubt you would support and even laugh off a conservative who said the thing but reversded ideologies....you're really twisted and the fact you think it is funny is quite disturbing

What was it that got her canned? I thought there was absolutely nothing a Republican could do to be removed from the airwaves.

This is long long long overdue.

It wasn't any one thing, as far as I know. Media Matters was waging a campaign, and they wanted NBC to answer why they were giving someone who has done things like, call for the bombing of the New York Times building, air time to sell her book.

Spurt, there's an emo social group on this board, why don't you apply?

Coulter needed to get sacked. She is an obnoxious, rabid bitch.

No great loss.

Reading how the libs have no problem with an opposing voice being silenced, it is ironic what an NBC spokemen said "We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now. It's such a downer. It's just not the time, and it's not what our audience wants, either."

It shows now that Dems are in total control, liberal tolerance will be shown more often

You will also hear " We are in charge. Sit down, and shut the f*** up!!"

However, looks like NBC is backtracking. Seems there was alot calls and emails in protest

NBC: Ann Coulter not banned
Network responds to rumors after bumping her from 'Today'

NEW YORK -- NBC News denied Monday that conservative author Ann Coulter has been banned from the network after "Today" dropped her from Tuesday's program because of breaking-news events.

The Coulter incident garnered huge headlines, which reported that network sources said NBC was not going to allow the frequent guest to appear any more.

That's not true, NBC News said Monday. Coulter's segment was dropped from the schedule because of news that the show was expecting to cover in the Gaza Strip with the Israeli military action there and in Washington with the Obama transition. "Today" had booked former British prime minister Tony Blair. Coulter was to promote her new book, "Guilty: Liberal 'Victims' and Their Assault on America."

Late Monday, NBC said that it had offered Coulter a spot on the Wednesday "Today" show.

"We've had Ann Coulter on 'Today' many times, but because of the news in Washington and the Middle East, we decided to cancel her appearance tomorrow," NBC News said in a statement Monday. "Understanding the media as well as she does, we are sure she knows this happens from time to time. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future."

Instead, Coulter will appear on CBS' "The Early Show" to promote her book, according to an announcement on Coulter's Web site. It wasn't confirmed immediately by CBS.

"I guess this ends the 'they just want to get ratings' argument about liberal media bias," Coulter wrote on her site of NBC. She was scheduled to appear Jan. 9 on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."

Coulter has a history with NBC, particularly "Today." She went toe-to-toe with former co-host Katie Couric in 2002, whom she called "the affable Eva Braun" in her book "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right." Couric protested Coulter's portrayal of the "Today" interview with Ronald Reagan biographer Edmund Morris that called the former president "an apparent airhead."

In 2006, Coulter's appearance on "Today" with Matt Lauer caused another uproar as they battled over some of the things she said about 9/11 widows and what she called "the left's doctrine of infallibility" in another book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism." She was also criticized in 2007 for her remarks on CNBC's "The Big Idea With Donny Deutsch" about Jews.

On Sunday, watchdog group Media Matters of America noted what it called several cases of "inflammatory rhetoric" in a copy of her book. It also questioned whether NBC would "help Coulter sell" the book by booking her.

Listen RSR, shortly after 9/11, Coulter said, in the city that had just suffered a major terrorist attack and 3,000 deaths, that her "only regret about Tim McVeigh is that he did not go to the NY Times Building".

The fact is that if anyone on the left had made that statement, you would freak out, and accuse anyone even knowing them of "pallin around with terrorists".

Face it, any of you on the right defending Coulter are sticking up for a terrorist supporter, and someone who encouraged the bombing of a building in NYC.

You only expose your own hackery, and far worse, your own anti-Americanism. You support someone who calls for the deaths of Americans, you're a traitor. Sorry, but that is the verdict. No appeal.

For NBC to want to remove someone who is biased os a joke. Look at who the have anchoring the election - Chris Matthews and Keith Overbite

Matrhews who said he got a thrill up his leg when Obama speaks - and has said his JOB is now to make sure the Obama administration is a success

Keith Overbite is a nut who long ago forgot about objective journalism

As far as Ann, she is a opinion writer. This added publicity wil sell more copies of her books, and get her more speaking gig where libs can try to charge the stage to try and silence her

But it loks like she is not banned. To much heat for NBC

NBC and the left only want people on who agree with them. The Unfairness Docreinwe will be brought up sioon where libs can go for their real targets - Rush, Sean, and other conservatives radio hosts

Oh another right wing terrorist supporter who is afraid to openly admit that he supports a woman who called for further terrorist attacks on NYC and the death of more Americans...what a surprise.

But you've been marked down as an anti-American terrorist supporter anyway, sorry. It's final. You're exposed.
