Conservative myth of the day

Are you not free to start a business, Steel? How is a market not free simply because it contains large players within it?

Are you not free to start a business, Steel? How is a market not free simply because it contains large players within it?

Because it's rigged in favor of the big players. It makes it much harder to compete, the tax laws favor them too...sure, you can start a business and perhaps you might even do OK for yourself. But get too big and actually compete with the big boys? They'll crush you and never think twice on it.

Ironically, you want to use the tax laws to crush them. You could probably jack them way up, and you would still fail, because envy and self-pity are not enough to compete in the market.

So, is that it - government doesn't do enough to help (i.e. not free market principles) people like us out in the free market?

This country will never see a true free market economy until the incentives and tax breaks given to big business to shove out the mom and pops are eradicated.

You ignorant fuck....you guys just can't stop with the rhetoric can you? You guys are like a doll baby that kids pull a string and the baby says "mama", but instead, you pull your own string and you say "envy", "self pity", "entitlement" and the like. How is anyone supposed to have dialogue and rationally debate items when all people care about is ideology and rhetoric?

Stop taking right wing media at face value. Stop thinking that government is the only problem with this country. Stop thinking that big multinationals want a free market and competition. Start thinking that perhaps....just perhaps...that they are also detrimental to our economy. Start thinking that they are working the system and costing us more than ALL the welfare queens combined possibly could.

I'm sorry dude...this shit goes way deeper than liberal vs. Conservative.

I'm sorry 3D....and I mean that.

However, the continual barrage of name calling and blanket assumptions(from both extremes) do nothing in the way of finding solutions....and think about it....we are the constituents of our representation in our State Capitals and in Washington.

All I see is envy. You have not given any specifics about how the system is rigged, and how the free market is unfree. Try doing that, instead of sharing your rhetoric. You keep claiming that there was a time in this country when the free market worked, and yet your rhetoric is at least 60 years old, so I'm puzzled by that as well.

But I have. :)

I have given examples in quite a few threads. It's not rhetoric when we gave China most favored nation status, they purposely devalued their currency and good American Jobs went bye bye. And it's not rhetoric to say that our own multinational companies played a huge part in it by throwing money at our government to let it happen.

It's not rhetoric when our tax dollars subsidize medical research and we still pay through the teeth for the treatments WE helped discover, while the rest of the world doesn't.

It's not rhetoric when we subsidize fossil fuels with our tax dollars to keep the price at the pump artificially low. The oil and gas industries get their products twice over....first we subsidize, then they sell us marked up fuels.

And yes, government is partially to blame. I have no problem saying that. But that in no way, shape or form excuses all of these industries from royally screwing the consumer, the workforce, or the country.

There's nothing wrong with Capitalism....it works when we have aligned interests. But that's not what we have. We have a group of good, hard working people trying to create jobs and put out products and services in this country, and I applaud them for their efforts. Then we have the vampires who suck the life and wealth out of the country. Who use public funds to get their way and never put it to use here. All with the blessing of our government.

And anyone who tries to change that is the subject of misinformation, twisting of facts, and outright slanderous lies.
It's not rhetoric....it's the truth. I have no problem with people making more than me. I am happy with my 40k job and my pension after 35 years of serving the Commonwealth. But I do have a problem with is people calling me a Leech, when trillions of our tax and consumer dollars leave this country or get stuffed directly into a Cayman Islands bank account or reinvested into slave labor countries and never gets put back into circulation here at home.

There's nothing wrong with being rich and successful. Long term greed is what made America great. Short term greed(quick buck thinking) with governmental policy as the catalyst is destroying the country. Why don't states have enough money for pensions? Why are half the country's citizens on food stamps when the unemployment rate is somewhere between 7 and 14%(depending in the numbers you use)?

It's not because of the laziness of 50% of the country....it's because we, as taxpayers are subsidizing the shitty jobs that are left in this country.

Howey, I don't consider 3D to be any of those things. He's okay sometimes. Intelligent and insightful? I saw some insight when he described DY, but I wouldn't want to be in prison waiting for the next time.

Steel, I would never call you a leech. I also agree that the relationship between government and business leads to a worse situation - as seen by the collapse and bailout of the financial sector. I applaud the fact that you work hard and support yourself.

But it's in my nature to work slowly toward tax reform and changes to trade and regulatory law. Not to sit and cry bloody murder over a system that slowly keeps getting muddled up. Personally, I would like to see our tax code rewritten and the corporate tax replaced with a domestic-preferenced VAT. This would increase revenue and promote domestic productivity while taking away the high percentage figures of our current code which lead to many of the problems.

Well, that's something. We have a common enemy in freaks like DY until he goes berserk and gets himself gunned down defending the "honor" of his chosen land.

How comes when I called 3D "An insufferable prick!" he said "Flattery will get you know where Mott!"

BURN!!!! LOL

Hey....the history of the world according to 3D may be.....uhh unique.....but a man who likes hooters as much as he does can't be all bad! :)

You're being retarded trying to equate the modern conservative movement with the past sins of Democrats. This is a huge fail for you Moot.
OH please.....who's being the retard? Like the last 50 years of the Republican party haven't existed! Derp, derp! It's funny how you can't list a single fact contradicting those I posted, not one! :)

There is some truth to that assertion. If the Democrats can be unabashed about their Liberalism, Republicans should be equally uncompromising about Conservatism.

On that note, let me offer a bit of clarification. Conservatives are not necessarily opposed to progress, just opposed to change for just for the sake of change. And Conservatism is about results!, not intentions.
I'd agree with that. Conservatives are for results. Bad ones.

From the link:

"In a socialist system the people own and control the means of production and distribution through democratically controlled public agencies, cooperatives, or other collective groups."

The democratic party has no desire to take the ownership and means of production and distribution away from the capitalist marketplace
Yea....that's one of their big lies.....that and they equate support Keynesian economics as their favorite boogeyman "Socialism"...a related conservative BIG LIE.
