Conservatism isn't governance, it's dogma like BoTHsiDeRism

Reactionary, brainless, thoughtless, selfish, cowardly losers.

None of these kinds of people can lead because they have no ideas. Just vague thoughts around using some kind of non-existent populist support to magically make consensus.

But if you pay attention, you ultimately see that they have no ideas. Because that would require actual work and they're too lazy, too racist, or too cowardly to do that work.

They want you to think reactionary politics is governance, but it's not.

3P's, like Conservatives, have absolutely nothing to offer...and any time they are given even a sniff of power, they fuck things up, can't get anything done, and then blame everyone else for not going along with their fantasy.

Conservatives will never be able to elect a Speaker because Conservatism is antithetical to democracy.

House Republicans are scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. ET for a closed-door candidate forum during which nine candidates are expected to make their pitch to be the next speaker. The conference is scheduled to vote tomorrow morning on whom to nominate next.

I should actually correct myself...3P's would never elect enough legislators downballot because they can't find anyone dumb enough to sign onto their platform of non-governance.

The Republican Party is essentially three tiers.

The top tier is the handful of corporate oligarchs who's only ideology is that their little club should control all the money in the word.

The bottom and huge tier are the rank and file Republicans who dance at the end of the oligarchs' strings.
They understand only that they have resentment and need someone to tell them who to blame.
That makes therm feel better.

In between are the right wing politicians who are not in the oligarch class but who are willingly owned by them and do their bidding.

As a hard left progressive, I don't believe that conservatism is necessarily antithetical to democracy.

It depends on what one is trying conserve, but the Republican Party seeks to keep or revive the very worst of American culture,
or what little culture we've acquired thus far.

The Party of Trump is crumbling. Thank goodness.

I propose that we completely remove any trace of Conservatism (Big "C") from our politics.

I guarantee if we did that, we would have a functional government that made sensible policy.

I challenge you the same way I challenge them...please, by all means, give an example of a merit of Conservatism. I bet you can't think of one. Wanna know why? Because they don't exist.

Conservatism is just a front for Nazism and fascism.

I am a fiscal progressive and a democratic socialist.

If we remove all aspects of social conservatism, however, we get WOKE.

That feels as natural to me as putting on a yellow taffeta dress.

Then don't put on the fucking dress. It takes ZERO effort to recognize someone the way they want to be recognized.

If I met you and then just started referring to you by an incorrect name, you'd expect that I would correct myself to address you properly, right? So why can't you do that for other people?

The AP did a story about how people have less confidence in Congress. Okay, but 100% of it is the fault of the Republican Party.

Exactly...the job of journalists isn't to quote people, it's to find out who is telling the truth and who is lying and report THAT.

If one person says it's raining and the other says it isn't, it's not your job to quote both of them, it's your job to stick your hand out the fucking window and determine who is telling the truth.

Well, it's not the first thing on which we've disagreed, LV.
I'm unhappy with what WOKE is doing to the English language.

Perhaps I give the latter far more relevance than do other progressives.
Other progressives offer no apologies for what they prioritize, however,
and neither will I.

Well said. As a newspaper editor once said, there may be two sides to every story. But one of them is almost always wrong.

They use it as a “one word that fits all” things they don’t like.

But I don't even know what it is they don't like? Is it because they can't say the "n" word anymore? Because they can't call gay people the "f" word? Because they can't call women "bitches"?
