It's those 5 minutes BEFORE they show up that i'm concerned about. If they are in an armory, they are closer than say 20 city blocks through traffic (and the lmilitary police are a lot closer, and armed)...if the perp is just going to shoot a few people and suicide immediately after or blow himself up, then NOTHING CAN STOP HIM.....WHETHER IT'S A MILITARY BASE OR A DARKENED THEATRE. If he's in it for the long haul, then he's still got the drop on a lot of folk. Got that stupid? In most cases the law enforcement arrive to clean up the mess and to try and find the person who committed the crime. They rarely stop crimes and even more rarely prevent them.

An armed civilian, on the scene, can stop the violence before it escalates. As happened in the previous public shooting in Aurora CO. But those events rarely make the news because there aren't enough dead people to make the news media show up.

First off , you need to get educated as to how many crimes are PREVENTED by street cops, vice cops, intelligence, gang units, etc. If what you say is true, then YOU would be living in a situation similar to some of the worst crime rideden slums around the world instead of dicking around on the internet.

Secondly, repeating the same wishful thought of CWP saving the day in that theatre in Colorado is just that...wishful thinking. Do a simple research about accidental shootings regarding CWP and you'll get why your Aurora situation is the exception and not the rule.

It was a church in Aurora, not a theater.

I am not saying that cops don't help. The fact that they find and cpature the criminals is a large part of why we don't live in crime ridden slums.

But their ability to prevent crimes is seriously limited. Their ability to prevent crimes like this one, where the perpetrator had no criminal record, is almost nil.

The simple fact is that the chances of a cop being able to prevent tragedies like the one in the theater in aurora are somewhere between slim & none. However, a CWP holder carrying a gun could have done plenty in that theater.

The cops do prevent crimes. I shouldn't have siad it the way I did. But the huge majority of that prevention has to do with organized crime and gang activity. Not with events like Aurora.
