China marks 60 years with spectacle of power

BEIJING (Reuters) – China celebrated its ascendance with a show of goose-stepping troops, gaudy floats and nuclear-capable missiles in the nation's capital on Thursday, 60 years after Mao Zedong proclaimed its embrace of communism.

Thousands of troops cleared central Beijing of all passers-by for the anniversary parade for the birth of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949, and the central Tiananmen Square was turned into a high-tech stage to display the ruling Communist Party's achievements before invited guests.

I'm sure you are expecting me to say something so, not to disappoint, let me first say I watched the first forty minutes or so from 10am our time and furthermore I have stood beneath the famous portrait of Mao and watched the soldiers perform the flag lowering ceremony.
OK. So we read your link and guess what? (It really is a bore pointing out this sort of stuff to you people) it is filled to overflowing with trigger words. This piece is as manipulative, as packed with propaganda, as anything the Chinese goverment has ever released.
Trigger words:
1. 'goose-stepping' troops. ee, run for cover, Hitler is back.
2. 'Gaudy' floats. gaudy? Maybe to you but that is an intrinsic part of the Chinese culture. Rather as your 'gaudy' flag is part of what serves as American culture.
3. 'Nuclear capable missiles'. Oh my gosh! that word. Nuclear (Noocular for the republicans). North Korea, Iran, Pakistan.... run! hide!
4. The 'embrace' of communism like the embrace of a boa constrictor.
5. 'Meticulously disciplined'. Discipline... ooo....no freedom where there is discipline.... The performers of Cirque Soleil are also disciplined but we say it is the spectacular result of years of training.
6. 'Firing cannons' ... war mongering bastards! Are you hating these people yet? Your puppeteers want so much for you to hate them. Gotta have an enemy to keep the sheep happy.
7.The 'red national' flag... RED for chrissakes. Red China. National flag.... these red commie bastards have a red national flag?
8. President Hu was 'bellowing' bellowing? like an animal bellowing? you mean like a thousand and one American politicians and entertainers?
9. And, of course, if you are not hating enough already the repeated use of the word 'comrades'. A TRANSLATION for gods sake! of a term which holds no political connotations within China. Comrades. Hate. Hate the comrades. Hate the red flag. hate. hate. hate.

I tell you what, I found the whole thing quite intimidating but I find all military parades intimidating and often nauseating. However, for brilliance, for marching excellence, for general turnout they are better, (I hate to say this) than the Household Cavalry and they, in their turn, are better than any bunch of shaven-headed, low foreheaded, chanting Americans.
There you are. I have performed for you and you are now free to shower me with the usual crop of inanities from the half brained right wing yanks.

Jeesus-Louise-us! A simple: "I am embarrassed" would have sufficed.

Are you talking to me? I'm not embarassed.

i was just pointing out how LowIQ likes chinese meat in his orifices.

Nope. I was talking about Rowaicue

"I tell you what, I found the whole thing quite intimidating but I find all military parades intimidating and often nauseating"

Oh. Ok. I wasn't sure. But still i liked another opportunity to frame lowiq into imaginative scenarios of degrading sex with Chicoms.

I am quite surprised at your response. You have mentioned on several occasions that that you do not like governmental control. Well here I have illustrated quite clearly how organs such as yahoo are part of that manipulating machine. As an outsider, and you and I share this, we can see not only mass manipulation (control) by the Chinese government but the same, if a deal more subtle, by western governments. Yet you choose obscenity as a response.

I didnt suggest that it was right, left or centre to oppose, or support, what you call totalitarian fascist regimes. How could I? You refuse to explain what YOU mean by the term as you apply it to the PRC.

I never understood why you rightwing nuts are so hung up over sex and consider it such a great insult to call someone a cocksucker. In the exceedingly unlikely event that you could ever find anyone foolish enough to touch your penis with anything other than a pair of tweezers I would have thought that you would at least be grateful and not use it as an insult.
