China marks 60 years with spectacle of power

BEIJING (Reuters) – China celebrated its ascendance with a show of goose-stepping troops, gaudy floats and nuclear-capable missiles in the nation's capital on Thursday, 60 years after Mao Zedong proclaimed its embrace of communism.

Thousands of troops cleared central Beijing of all passers-by for the anniversary parade for the birth of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949, and the central Tiananmen Square was turned into a high-tech stage to display the ruling Communist Party's achievements before invited guests.

I'm sure you are expecting me to say something so, not to disappoint, let me first say I watched the first forty minutes or so from 10am our time and furthermore I have stood beneath the famous portrait of Mao and watched the soldiers perform the flag lowering ceremony.

I am quite surprised at your response. You have mentioned on several occasions that that you do not like governmental control. Well here I have illustrated quite clearly how organs such as yahoo are part of that manipulating machine. As an outsider, and you and I share this, we can see not only mass manipulation (control) by the Chinese government but the same, if a deal more subtle, by western governments. Yet you choose obscenity as a response.

I didnt suggest that it was right, left or centre to oppose, or support, what you call totalitarian fascist regimes. How could I? You refuse to explain what YOU mean by the term as you apply it to the PRC.
