Charter School Failures in Ohio

Jesus Christ dude. You cited the Wall Street Journal. They are basing their evaluation of their cost of education and not performance. Why don't you try a little more objective reference.

And I'll give Arkansas props. They have made tremendous improvement in recent years at the high school level. So have Kentucky and Tennessee...but as you can see....most of the South is at the bottom. In terms of total educational attainment they still have a long way to go.

In completing a high school diploma, 8 of the worst 10 states are southern. Including Arkansas

Same with completing undergraduate degrees. 8 of the worst 10 are in the south.

Wow... you went to simple graduation rates? Because no one passes illiterate people to keep those up. I mean, why look at college prep, testing, etc... when you can just look at graduation rates. Good call mutt.

Uhh last I heard...and correct me if I'm wrong here....but isn't that rather the purpose of education to turn illiterate people into literate ones?

Regardless, this is a distraction from the main point that the data is strongly indicating that the Charter School experiment appears to be a failed one.

I live in Southern Point, which is just across the Pickaway county line. My children would normally go to Teays Valley Schools. I work for Capital University and my wife works for Columbus State, so we pretty much get near free college tuition for our children.

Cool! My respect for you just went way up.
You're not far from Commercial Point then.

1) Yes... but graduation does not equate to literate. That was the point. If graduation rate was all that was needed to determine it, these studies wouldn't include all the variables they do.

2) No, the data suggests no such thing.
