Cars Without Borders: Does “Made in America” Really Matter Anymore?

Don't try to pull your bullshit on me. I didn't look down on Ford. YOU are the one who looked down on GM and Chrysler:

I look down on any company that almost goes bankrupt, borrows a huge amount to stay afloat, then brags that they paid back the loans when all they did was borrow more from the fed to payback the original loans.

But lets stay on topic, shall we? The discussion is whether "Buy American" means anything anymore since so many "foreign" cars are made in the US. And also, why should someone have to "justify" buying a Toyota or japanese owned car.

So why make this remark? You obviously back GM & Chrysler over Ford, despite the fact that Ford is obviously a better run company.

Are we going to do this AGAIN??? I respond to someone else's words, and you ignore what elicits my comments? Seriously, you have major cognitive issues.

I support ALL THREE...KOG singled out Ford.

Enough buying customers certainly don't think so. I certainly don't think so, apart from Ford. I'd sooner walk then drive a GM or Chrysler product again.

Now you are trying to put MORE words in my mouth? I never said anyone had to justify what car they buy. I only have to justify what car I buy. I have stayed loyal to American manufacturers. That is MY choice.

So you make your own choice, but belittle someone else for doing the same?

KOG doesn't have the same freedom of choice as you do? Good to know.

Yes KOG does. But the ONLY ONE who had disparaging words about any auto manufacture was KOG, NOT ME... I strongly suspect the ONLY reason he/she would not buy a GM or Chrysler is because of partisan ignorance. IF Ford had accepted the gov't loans, his/her statement WOULD have been: 'I'd sooner walk then drive a FORD, GM or Chrysler product again.

But AGAIN, you continue to try to answer for someone else, unless you are KOG. And if that is true, your back and forth about gun specs on another thread is proof of mental illness.

So you don't care about the topic, you are just looking to take shots at conservatives? And, of course, you belittle those who are partisan and disagree with you. But your own partisan politics is blatantly obvious. Nice to see a consistent hypocrisy.

Ironic, of the big 3, Ford is the one who opted out of government loans. You are a partisan hack who puts ideology ahead of the American worker.
So because I like the quality and personal experience I've had with Ford, and do not like the ones I've had with Gm or Chrysler, I'm a hack? How again? I'm pretty sure Ford employs Americans too. Along with Toyota, Saturn, and other 'foreign' car makers.

Seriously what the fuck are you smoking?

Yeah, because their products suck. I'm not a blind partisan who spends my hard earned money on an inferior product. Ford provides the best product for my money, based on my prior experiences with them. Chrysler provides the worst product for my money, and GM the 2nd worst.

I'm sorry, what exactly do you base that on? Are you still butt hurt because I pointed out you love arbitrary police state powers and would subvert any ALL your freedom of choice to the government if you perceived some value of 'safety' and you were unable or unwilling to refute it? Because that can be taken up in the thread where I made the statement.

If there is one thing I literally hate, it is the abuse of authority. So you know NOTHING about me. I refused to cower to your strawman arguments, get over it...

I support all three with my hard earned dollars. What about YOU? I currently have 2 GM products, 1 Chrysler product and 1 Ford product. For years I chose the Taurus over the Lumina and owned 3 GMC Jimmys in a row and switched to a Ford Explorers. They all have strengths and weaknesses.

2 Fords and unfortunately my wife owns a 96 Saturn, which needs it's entire transmission replaced after 62k miles. I frequently have to use a GMC 3500 van at work and the typical starting procedure is to jump up and down in it while turning the key with the gas cap off. I had a 2000 Jeep that rolled out of the factory with electrical problems and the entire cooling system was ruined at 100k miles. I decided to cut my losses and scrap it. But my Ford f150 (97) is riding along to its 342k mile without anything other than routine maintenance work (oil, tires, brakes, ect). I work on a buddies Seabring fairly often and the brilliant engineers at Chrysler decided that they should make their car as difficult to work on as possible, otherwise I wouldn't have to take the tire off to change the battery. Working on my Crown Vic is a pleasurable experience however, and I have enough room under the hood to sleep if I had the desire. So you'll pardon me if my experience with cars that aren't a Ford leaves me with little desire to continue buying and/or driving them.

"Made In America"

ABOUT 8.5 million cars and light trucks were assembled in the United States last year, but only about five million of those were made by the automakers traditionally known as the Big Three. More than three million of the vehicles assembled in American plants were built by autoworkers employed by foreign brands like BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.

Congrats on making yet another point that has nothing to do with the topic.

You are the one who started giving someone shit for having a preference. You are the one who jumped in and tried to sidetrack the subject.

I have owned or extensively driven vehicles from all of the Big 3. I have no faith in GM products. The Ford trucks have been excellent, but the one car was a piece of shit.

If you had read the posts, you would have seen that I have had an assortment of vehicles.

Do try to keep up.
